8 Signs You're The Girl Who Talks To Her Mom Every Day

"Our mother's always remain the strangest, craziest people we've ever met."
- Marguerite Duras

Growing up our parents talk about how one day we are going to grow up, go to college, and forget about them. That we will grow up in their houses, make uncountable memories, but then one day leave the nest and start our own lives. I was never sure how I would be once I went to college because I'd like to think I always had a pretty close relationship with my mom. But then I went to college and I soon found my answer. And I don't know about you, but I talk to my mom every single day.

No seriously, every day and all day, and I'm totally okay with that. So if you're anything like me, maybe you can relate to these eight things that happen when you talk to your mom every day:

1. People no longer ask who you're texting.

You talk to your mom so often that when people see you on your phone they don't even ask you who you're talking to. Instead, they ask you what you and your mom are talking about.

2. You and your Mom finish each other's sentences.

You talk so much you basically have the same train of thought and can finish one another's sentences. They could only be halfway through a sentence and you can already figure out where the story is going and what she is going to say next.

3. You two have your own "language."

It's a running joke in my parent's house that my mom and I have our own language since half the time we are the only two that understand anything we are talking about. We could be talking about the thing a ma jig and that place you know where, and know exactly what the other is talking about even though no one else does.

4. As soon as something happens, your mom is your first call.

Whether it's something about class, work, your friends, or even your relationship, as soon as it happens your mom is getting a phone call. Some days you call her after class when you're walking to your car simply just because you want to talk to her.

5. Withdrawals by 10 a.m.

Let's be honest, most of our moms wake up earlier than we do and will therefore already be ready to ask you 20 questions before you've even woken up, and since you're always talking, you will almost always have a text from her waiting. So if you manage to go part of the day without talking to your mom, you will go through withdrawals.

6. You can't sleep without telling her "goodnight."

You spend most of the day talking, so why wouldn't you tell each other goodnight, too?

7. When you know everything the other is doing throughout the day.

Being in college we have crazy schedules with classes, jobs, homework, studying, while also trying to have a social life, and our moms are also busy with their own lives. So in cases like mine, I'm so busy that I rarely have the chance to go home for the weekend. But that doesn't mean my mom still doesn't know nearly everything I'm doing. When you talk to your mom every day, you know everything the other is doing, even if you never actually saw each other.

8. Your mom is your best friend.

Some people talk to their parents less once they go away to school, but then there are those of us who manage to talk to our parents even more. I was always close to my mom, but since I came to college, I talk to my mom even more and I'm so grateful for that. When you talk to your mom every day, you continue to stay a huge part of one another's lives, while continuing to learn more about each other each day. Your mom becomes your best friend.

I know God made me and my mom perfect for one another because there is no one who makes me laugh harder and smile brighter than she does which is why I will always be proud to say I talk to my mom every day. So shout out to all of those women out there who took the time to raise us and love us even in our worst forms. We are so lucky to have you.

Now mom, text me back.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
