7 ways to de-stress

1) Face masks!

- I know personally whenever I am stressed, a bit of self-pampering always does the trick to make me feel better. Just slapping on a face mask, leaving it on for 15-30 minutes, and watching some Netflix usually makes me feel a whole lot better. It's especially fun to do it with your friends! Also, people tend to break out when they're feeling stressed, so this can help with that too! Just don't forget to moisturize afterwards!

2) Taking a nap

- Okay, I'm sure most of us know that when all goes wrong- go to sleep. But for some of you overachievers who don't hit the sheets until EVERYTHING is done, try it! Sometimes getting things done when you're too stressed out, leads to doing them badly! Take a quick power nap, and try it again later. Trust me, nothing will feel better than finally laying down on your pillow when you've been struggling to keep your eyes open for hours.

3) Working out

- I know this is the one that people are probably going to roll their eyes at, but working out really does help to de-stress! It really gets your endorphins going, which is proven to make you feel exhilarated and happier. It's a nice time to just put your headphones in, sweat it all out, and really have some time to yourself. Plus, you get fit doing it!

4) Drink tea

- Drinking tea is honestly just soothing, and can make a person all around feel better about what's going on. Sometimes when I'm doing homework or studying and I feel stressed out, I drink tea while still doing those things but I feel myself being a bit more calm.

5) Try some crafts

- Draw, color, paint, sketch- anything really! Busting out some crafts when you're super stressed will get your mind off of whatever you're doing, and let you have some easy, light fun! Also, crafting has been reported to ease anxiety.

6) Put on some music!

- There is definitely a song for whatever you're feeling right now, and it usually helps to calm you down to hear that someone else is going through it to. Whether it's a slow beat or a fast one, it's sure to do the trick.

7) When all else fails, call up your friends and have some fun!

- If nothing else works, calling up your friends probably will. Whether it's to go out to the bars, sitting on the couch and watching a movie, getting some Starbucks, or even to just talk on the phone, friends have a way of making you feel better. You can talk about your stress with them and get even more advice than this article is giving you, or they can just try and get your mind off of it completely! My friends are honestly my go-to when I'm completely stressed out, and I couldn't be more grateful of them!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
