There are always things we should be reminded of. Sometimes these are just things we should be able to remind ourselves of. It is not always easy to remind yourselves of things you need to know, especially when you are trying to figure out what you want to do with your life. No matter if you are finishing up high school, or are well into college here are some things all girls need to remember.

Boys will hurt you and/or break your heart -

Whether it’s an ex-boyfriend, current boyfriend, or someone you’ve never even dated. It is bound to happen. Try making strong relationships with girlfriends, and you’re in luck, because college is the perfect place to do this. Get out there, join a sorority, a religious group, or anything else you are interested in. Give yourself strength and use new friendships to distract you from the problems of your past. You will thank yourself when you finally find the one for you and have a million friends to choose from to be your bridesmaids.

Eat what you want -

Not everyone is #blessed with a great metabolism and a size zero model body but that’s okay! I’m not saying eat 50 taco bell tacos a day, or eat a gallon of ice cream whenever you see one, but eat what you want. Everything is about moderation. If your friends want to order a pizza at 2am after a long night out or while you are studying for finals, eat a slice or two because it’s not going to kill you and it will help with the cravings (and because you deserve it girl).

Apologize -

I know it’s hard to admit when you are wrong but it is not a reason to burn bridges. If you know you are wrong and feel guilty apologize. It is not always the easiest conversation and some people might not accept your apology but it is better than nothing. Also, you will feel a lot less guilty about yourself and will know in your heart that you did what you could to rebuild anything that you have messed up.

Step outside of your comfort zone -

Go up to someone at a party and compliment their outfit if you feel you need to. Make friends in your classes with people you would never think to be friends with. Join clubs you are interested in to learn new things and be exposed to new people. You will get so much more out of the experiences you do take than the ones that you don’t take.

Being and/or playing dumb is not cute -

Getting and education on what you are interested in is important. Study for your test and get good grades. Don't believe in the term ignorance is bliss. You need to be a strong independent woman. Treat yourself to something for every A you get on an exam, choose studying over going out with your friends during the week if you know you need it. Go to class and get what you need out of it because education is an expensive industry and you deserve to achieve all of the plans that are set out for you. It doesn't matter if it’s getting a beauty degree, a trade school certificate, an associates, a bachelors, a masters or a PhD. You do you girl and make everything you can out of life.

Stop caring so much about what everyone else thinks -

I remember my mom always told me growing up that if I wanted to dye my hair blue, I should because it’s my hair and it’s not hers. I remember putting random pink streaks in my hair and loving it when people noticed (thanks Avril Lavigne) because it was something different. When did I get to cool for pink hair? When people thought it was weird. Now, I know who cares what my hair looks like. It’s not their hair and it does not affect them so they shouldn’t care. I have learned to love the quote by Dr. Seuss “Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” Live it. Learn it. Love it. Go out and find friends that sit in the bathroom and help you dye your hair pink.

Don’t slut shame -

If it’s not your boyfriend, does it matter if she was with two different guys? No. Just because you don’t choose to live your life one way, does not mean that other people don’t live their lives that way. Stand up for other girls, let other people know it’s not their business what others decide to do with their lives. If it does not affect your life you shouldn’t worry about it anyways. This applies to anything. Unless someone is putting themselves in apparent danger just support them and be there for them. Girls have it hard enough at this age so we might as well support each other and have each other’s backs.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
