For years, baseball has been America’s favorite pastime. There is nothing quite like spending a Sunday afternoon at your favorite ballpark, eating a hotdog and rooting for the home team. Undoubtedly, the best place to do this is at America’s beloved Fenway Park, and here is why:
1. It is America’s oldest ballpark.
Fenway Park has housed the Boston Red Sox since 1912, making it Major League Baseball’s oldest ballpark. From Babe Ruth, to Ted Williams, to Carl Yastrzemski, Fenway has seen its fair share of greats. Walking through the stadium you can see all the Red Sox logos from 1908 to present, and if you look closely in right field you can see the lone red seat, marking Ted Williams’s longest home run. Watching a game at Fenway you get to experience history, all the while watching our current fan favorites such as Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz making history of their own.

Fenway Farms is a rooftop garden located right in Fenway Park that grows a variety of different vegetables and herbs that are used in the food sold at the park. Not only does this have environmental benefits and makes for delicious additions to the food, but it is also used to teach local youth about growing their own food, the environment and healthy eating. Just one way Fenway Park and the Red Sox give back to the great city of Boston.
3. Fenway Franks.
Need I say more?
4. "Sweet Caroline."
No matter which team you are rooting for, no one can resist singing along to Neil Diamond’s "Sweet Caroline" in the middle of the eighth inning.
5. Wally the Green Monster.
Not only is the actual green monster the most famous wall in the world (OK, maybe it is a close second behind the great wall of China), but the Red Sox mascot, Wally the Green Monster, is definitely a great one. He even grew a beard with the players to lead them to victory in the 2013 World Series. Seeing Wally roaming around is an essential part of the Fenway Park experience.
6. There is no such thing as a bad seat.
A perk of being a smaller ballpark is that at Fenway, there are no bad seats. Whether you are sitting right behind home plate, in the highly sought after green monster seats, or in the right field bleachers, you can see everything that is going on and feel like you are a part of the game.
7. It is the home of the Boston Red Sox.
As Al Waterman would say, “Careful kid, they’ll break your heart”. And that they do, especially this season, but from my experience I have found that for every time they break your heart, they find a way to win you back. This is why the Red Sox have some of the most devoted fans in Major League Baseball.
