Working is in general not much fun. Yet, we all drag ourselves to various jobs because we like food and homes and nice things, and those cost money. I have worked retail throughout college at TJ Maxx and it has been equal parts awesome and awful. I know I never want to work this job full time. However, working retail has had it's advantages; mainly working with some pretty dang awesome coworkers. There is so many things I have to thank you for but here is a short list. This is for you!
1. Thanks for listening to all my issues and helping me through problems outside of work.
Roommate problems, boy complaints, you name it and you guys listen, give input and help me figure out this crazy thing called life. Coworkers/therapists.
2. Listening to me complain… a lot. Like a lot.
I am sorry for being so whiny but thanks for listening and not slapping me and telling me to shut up.
3. Helping me shop on the clock and being honest that blush is not my color.
The one big plus of working retail! I love having a store full of educated opinions. Also, thanks for pulling that shirt in my size on my day off because you know me so well and I absolutely love it.
4. Understanding the joys and horrors of retail better than anyone….
Such as inventory *shudder*. We are a special breed and I am glad I get to share this often awful experience with such awesome people that make getting up at 4 a.m. to scan every item in the store for inventory or dealing with the Christmas return rush a lot less horrendous.
5. Making awesome food for every potluck and not judging how much I stuff my face.
Elaine's cakes and Dan's gnocchi soup are life.
6. Commiserating about nasty customers and lazy coworkers/managers.
Only we can understand just how awful that lady with the two year old return was or just how much that girl sat in the break room when she should have been cleaning domestics.
7. Making work bearable and fun.
Without all my crazy and wonderful coworkers, working retail would be unbearable. With them, it is a lot less painful and I look forward to working simply to spend time with my rockin' coworkers. Thanks for sticking around with me.
