LDOC. A sweet sigh of relief goes around campus as everyone finishes up their last classes of the semester.

But of course, like all good things, the second of relief has to come to an end. Now we’re approaching the scariest part of the semester -- finals week.

Grinding in the library or in your dorm, it’s easy to become immersed in your studies and forget about your physical, mental and emotional health.

Here are seven places you can go to in the midst of finals week to escape any stress and forget about your worries for a few minutes to a few hours.

1. The gym

The best place to let loose after a couple days of grinding is the gym. Letting out all your frustration of information you can’t understand, as well as just getting your anger out on that one professor who didn’t hold a review session.

2. The student union

For a quick break, take a trip to the student union and treat yourself to some ice cream and a few minutes of socializing before getting back to the grind.

3. Coffee shop

The library can get annoying to constantly sit in. Change up your study location to keep yourself inspired and motivated.

4. The park

A big part of finals week is staying indoors and pacing out all your studies. Weather permitting, get outside and study in a peaceful park somewhere! Fewer people will be around, and the outdoors will remind you of a better time in your life.

5. The bathroom

A short walk around the library, even if it’s just to the bathroom, can be a sweet relief when it comes to finals week.

6. A friend’s room

There’s nothing like a quick dance party to tame the stress beast that comes with the last few exams of the semester.

7. Off-campus

Leaving campus and just taking an hour to forget about your stresses is a simple way to refresh your brain and encourage yourself to keep studying.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
