Across Louisiana--and across the SEC--LSU fans are wishing they were us, free to roam campus on game day, filling up the student section, not a care in the world about parking or how to get back to wherever you're sleeping that night. Everybody wants to be us.
For those visiting campus for the first time on a game day, or for new students who have never been in attendance, here are the people you don't want to be remembered as on LSU Game Day:
1. That guy passed out on the bench outside the Union at 3 PM
2. Those people buying game day gear at the bookstore
I don't mean to let the cat out of the bag, but all that stuff is at every other store in Baton Rouge for half the price. Don't tell anyone I told you.
3. The guy who shouts "Geaux Tigers!" at everyone he sees
Okay...yes, Geaux Tigers, but also, no.
4. The family who wanders onto the parade grounds
This family isn't at every game--I've only seen them a few times. But, seriously, if you want to keep your young kids sheltered, stay away from the parade grounds.
5. The parents who try and take their kid on a tour of campus
We have really nice, guided tours for that, and honestly, while this is a side of LSU your child will experience while they're here, I really don't think our game day side is the side you most want them to see.
6. The fraternity pledges acting like fools at the tailgate
This has only happened once my three years at LSU, but it was bad enough that I feel I should caution against it: don't give your organization a bad name by getting into a fight on the parade grounds. Not even to end up on Total Frat Move.
And the most important, the person you most want to avoid being on an LSU game day:
7. The other guy
The worst possible person you can be on a Saturday night in Death Valley is anyone other than an LSU fan.
