6 Reasons The Bedlam Game Is Still Important

The heart of Stillwater broke yesterday when the Oklahoma State Cowboys took their first loss of the season to the Baylor Bears. Seeing our undefeated season coming to an end was difficult to watch after going two months without feeling the pain of a loss. This Saturday, however, is the infamous Bedlam game, arguably one of the best rivalries in college football. While all the Cowboy heads may still be hanging low today, it is time to raise our heads and start looking forward to Saturday.

1. We could still win the Big 12 Championship.

Our team’s hard work and wins this season have not gone to waste. We can still win this thing if we beat OU. This nice graphic explains what would happen in every scenario. Gosh the Big 12 is complicated.

2. College Game Day is coming to Stillwater.

I think this speaks for itself. Make signs, get up early, get hype and get loud. Show College Game Day what Stillwater is all about. They wouldn’t be coming if this game wasn’t important so explain to your family why you’re leaving Thanksgiving to come home early and hopefully they’ll be understanding!

3. There is still a very very small chance we could make playoffs.

Okay, I know this is a stretch but if all the stars align correctly and the football gods are in our favor there is still a small chance it is possible. Some great teams would have to lose late in the season and I wouldn’t put any money on it but hey, you never know crazy things happen in college football.

4. Two words: Bowl Game.

While we already know the Cowboys are bowl eligible, we are still fighting to get to the best bowl game we can go to. The better our record, the higher we are ranked and the better bowl game we will get to go to.

5. It’s J.W. Walsh’s last game in BPS.

I don’t know about ya’ll but this one pulls at my heartstrings. Walsh has been a leader for this team on and off the field for years now. He’s faced injuries and losing the starting QB position but still came back for his final season as a Cowboy. He’s had a huge impact on this season and we owe it to him and all the seniors to go out and support them in their last game at Boone Pickens Stadium.

6. IT’S BEDLAM!

The Sooners are coming to Stillwater looking for revenge for last year when we beat them in Norman. This is one of those games where you can throw out every prediction, every statistic, and everything from the rest of the season. No one knows who is going to win this game. Be prepared for the Sooners flocking to Stillwater ready to chant “Boomer, Sooner,” everywhere they go. So in order to combat this, Cowboys, be ready to roll out to Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday and unleash #HellOnEars.

This game is important no matter what you may think so after you’ve gotten your fill of turkey, stuffing and pie, be ready to come back to Stillwater to cheer the Cowboys on to victory. And as always, Go Pokes.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
