With midterms, campus organizations, hanging with friends and writing essays, college students can get stressed pretty easily. Some of us know what to do to relieve stress and some of us don't, so I'm going to give everyone a list of good ways to relieve stress while in college.

1. Call your mom

You know the saying, "Moms know best"? Well, it's true when you get into college. If you call your mom she'll definitely know what to say or what to do. Or she'll gossip with you about your aunt's new car or the annoying things your dad does. Trust me after she's done talking about what's going on in the family, you'll feel better.

2. Go hug a dog

If your college is anything like OSU, there's always a dog somewhere on campus. We have a group called Pete's Pet Posse where they bring dogs on campus for us to play with. College students love dogs. Go pet a dog. You'll feel better.

3. Get off campus for a little bit

When I say get off of campus, I mean go to a park to study or go to a lake. The peaceful scenery is super calming and since it's beginning to become fall, it's really pretty right now. When you're used to seeing the same buildings over and over again, it's good to change the scenery up a little bit.

4. Go shopping

Even though we complain as college students about how broke we are, it's always good to go shopping or window shop for a little while. I do it all the time (more than I should). It's also a perfect way to see what's coming into style for the upcoming season.

5. Watch a movie

Now I'm not saying to binge watch Netflix movies, but sometimes watching a movie or two isn't that bad. Shoot for a funny movie like White Chicks or Mean Girls. It'll make you feel better; trust me.

6. Listen to music

Music is always the answer. Now for myself, when I'm stressed, I love listening to jazz and old school R&B music, but Beyonce is always a good choice. ALWAYS. Plug in your headphones, play Pandora, and become Queen Bey.

I hope after reading this list you feel like you know how to control your stress because you don't want to go through college stressed out. Have fun and remember if you see a dog, go hug it. You'll need it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
