College will introduce numerous shifts in your life. Shifts in your beliefs, behavior, and overall view of the world. As you are shifting, you will begin to realize that you are not the same person you once were. At one time, you tolerated things, that you now consider intolerable. Where you were once quiet, you have discovered that you have a voice that should be heard.

1. Everything begins and ends with you.

In your mind, what you give power to has power over you. Protect your peace. Finish each day and be done with it. We either make ourselves miserable or we make ourselves strong.

2. Know your limits, we all have them.

No matter who you are, or what position you occupy in society, you’re still a human being, and that means you have limits. You need to be aware of them to make progress, and eventually lead the life you want. Recognize your weakness and struggle through them. Knowing your limits is essential to self-growth. There will always be more that needs to be done than you can physically do. Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could.Tomorrow is a new day.

3. Self discipline must be self taught.

Remember when I told you that the world doesn't revolve around you? This still stands true, but when it comes to self discipline it really is alright to be selfish. Be selfish when it comes to taking care that your work gets done and your dreams come true. Adulting is soooo hard. I'm confident that people don't wake up one day with everything figured out. Always do the work, especially when you don't feel like it.

4. To avoid the path of least resistance.

Conducting your life on autopilot, doing as little as possible to get by, making impulsive decisions, are all EASY. Why would you want easy for your life? Directing your life is an intentional action,be conscious and thoughtful. Choices need to be made in alignment with your larger vision if you want to get to where you need to go.

5. Productive discomfort.

Urban Meyer states, " Embrace productive discomfort. Discomfort marks the place where the old way meets the new way. Push through the pain. If it doesn’t challenge you, it will not change you." Learning how to accept your feelings without letting them control you is a major key. A comfort zone is a beautiful place but nothing ever grows there. We may not be in control the events in our lives but we can control our responses. Start by understanding situations, then understand what is required of you and respond accordingly.

6. Not all opportunities are to be taken.

Calculated risks. Weigh the risks and benefits before taking action. You are always one decision away from a different life. Not all risks are the same. Avoid the bad risks, approach the risks that can be managed and/or calculated to improve growth.

7. Leadership.

We hear this word so often, you would think by know we would have grasped the meaning. Leadership is more about trust you have earned than the authority you have been granted. Remember, you can’t lead people to a place that you are not going to as well. If it isn’t happening in you, it won’t happen through you.

8. To trust that God has a plan for you.

Even when you don't understand it, just trust HIM. He's in control and he shows us this by putting us in situations that we have no control over. Get out of your own way and let God lead, in every circumstance. period.

9. Clarity of purpose.

Ask yourself "EXACTLY, what is that I am chasing every day?" Be specific. Think hard. Know what you want. Investigate why you want to achieve your goal, and what you will gain by achieving it.

10. Every next level of your life will demand a different version of you.

Real progress as an individual requires focusing inward. You are the root cause of your current results. If you want different results, you must first be a different person. And at every succeeding level of your progression, you’ll be required to change again. What got you to this point, will not get you to the next destination. If you learn things that re-define how you see the world, why continue living the same way? After you have experienced growth, why revert back to behaving as if you never did?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
