5 Ways To Instantly Feel Better

It happens to the best of us. Sometimes it's just one of those days, weeks, even months where we find ourselves in a funk. Whether its due to a break up, a crappy time at work or just feeling bad about yourself in general, there are a few surefire ways that we can give ourselves the pick-me-up we need to get back on track and feeling good.

1. Treat yo self!

When I'm feeling like crap about something in my life, my usual go-to move in order to make myself feel better is to go spend money. I'm not saying this is a smart solution, but you don't have to spend a ton of cash to treat yourself. Getting your nails done, getting a massage, going shopping (or thrifting if you're broke), etc. Who knows, you might just find a great sale, and new shoes can turn a bad day into a great one! Pick yourself up, get glam and go have drinks with your closest friends. You'll be feeling back to normal in no time.

2. Meditate, pray, do yoga — whatever it is that you need to do to feel grounded.

Remember that trip to the beach you went on with all of your friends a couple of years ago? Remember how fun and great it was to be able to relax and have a good time withy your pals? Memories like these were made for rainy days like the one you may be going through. Something I like to do is sit or lay down, close my eyes, control my breathing and think about a time where everything in life was great. It is my way of meditating and telling myself that this rough patch I'm going through is anything but permanent. Whether it's praying, reading a book, or taking a stroll, focusing on yourself and your mind is a simple way to feel better in a matter of minutes.

3. Exercise.

I know this one is super cliche, but it really works. Exercise doesn't have to mean going to the gym and getting on a treadmill, but if that is your favorite way to exercise, more power to you! When you're feeling down, there are activities that involve exercise which can be extremely beneficial for your health and it can be fun as well. Try rock climbing, go for a swim, go hiking with your dog, or even taking a light stroll though a pretty area is beneficial. Exercising releases serotonin, which is the thing that makes us feel good and happy. There's no denying you'll feel brand new after you sweat out all those negative vibes.

4. Do something nice for someone else.

When you're feeling low or depressed, a great way to instantly feel better is to think of all the blessings and things you have to be grateful for in your life. No matter how crappy of a situation you're in, it is important to remember that there are others out there in the world who are going through worse things. Something you can do to feel better is to go do something nice for someone else. Go visit your grandma that you haven't seen in a while. Volunteer at a homeless shelter. Donate to a charity you care about. Even going and buying your loyal and faithful pet a nice treat or toy can make someone feel better! Even the smallest gestures can make someone else's day and yours along with it.

5. Ice cream.

If all else fails, let's be honest — ice cream is always there for you when you need a pick-me-up. Go and get your favorite kind, and chill with your cat on the couch. I guarantee you will feel better. Sometimes we just need some time away from people, work, your annoying significant other, etc. Taking time for yourself to do (or eat) something you love can turn a frown upside down in no time!

So just remember, everyone has those days, but no matter what, there's always tomorrow and this too shall pass — with the help of ice cream of course.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
