For all of us who are 5'3 or shorter, daily life comes with some daily struggles when the average height in America is 5'6 or taller. Since we are not "average" sized, there are some things that we have to learn to adapt to. Basically, all of our friends and family are taller than us, whether it be by a few precious inches or a whole foot. While there are many perks to being a short person, there are also many struggles. Here are a couple challenges us "shorties" face on a daily.
1. Needing something that is on the top shelf.
2. The constant short jokes.
3. Being your tall friend's arm rest.
4. Wearing crop style jeans as normal length jeans.
5. Your younger sibling is constantly mistaken as the oldest because they are taller than you.
6. PJ pants are ALWAYS long so you have to shuffle to avoid a deadly fall.
7. You ALWAYS have to be in the front row when taking group pictures.
8. You never get a good seat at concerts or sporting events because someone taller ALWAYS sits in front of you.
9. Gym equipment ALWAYS needs to be adjusted before you use it.
10. Tall people like to pick you up like you are an infant.
11. Your feet never touch the ground when sitting in bar stool seat or really any chair fit for an average sized human.
12. You have to ask people to put your carry on luggage into the overhead bin.
13. People mistake you for a middle schooler all the time.
14. You get carded a LOT.
15. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING needs to be hemmed or tailored.
16. Sitting so close to the steering wheel because your legs can't reach the pedals.
