5 Thoughts Everyone Had When Facebook Shut Down

You know you went crazy

5 Thoughts Everyone Had When Facebook Shut Down
Glendalough

On September 28, Facebook shut down for one hour for the first time since February 2013. If you are like any college student, Facebook is one of the main ways you keep in touch with family and friends...or distract you from other things you should probably be doing. When Facebook stopped working for one hour what was everyone thinking?

1. Now I actually have to listen to my lecture.

Let’s be real here, we all do it. You are siting in your boring lecture, so you decide to go on Facebook and take a few Buzzfeed quizzes and creep on old photos. Of course this happens to be one of your least-favorite classes, so when Facebook stopped working, it couldn’t have been worse timing.

.

2. The person you were hard-core creeping on will have to wait.

It could have been the boy you were crushing on in your English class, or the person you dislike the most. The creeping had to abruptly stop while Facebook stopped working. It’s okay though, as soon as it got back up and running I’m sure you went right back to your stalking.

3. No one will know how you are feeling during this moment because you cannot post a status.

I am talking to the person who posts many statuses telling all of their “friends” how they feel about their day. This same person also shares their strong opinions on certain topics that are being discussed in the media. Now you have to wait until Facebook starts working again to tell everyone how upset you were when you couldn’t post a status for one hour.

4. You are not smarter than Mark Zuckerberg.

After about 45 minutes of frustration you start to think you can find a way to fix Facebook. Well you can't, so don't even bother.

5. Login Successful.

When you have finally given up hope of ever being able to use Facebook again, you decide to try one more time. As you type in the final letters of your password you take a deep breath and click “login.”

Before you know it your newsfeed pops up and that awful hour of no Facebook is finally over. You can now get back to posting statuses and creeping on that boy in your English class because Facebook is back in action.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
