Now that football season is officially over, every sports lover’s attention has turned to the next season: baseball season (well, and college basketball March Madness of course). We’ve spent enough Sunday’s inside, watching the big game on our living room T.V.’s. We’re ready for peanuts and Cracker Jack at the ballpark.
There’s something about baseball season. Maybe it’s because it marks the beginning of warm weather, or maybe there’s something about the atmosphere of being at a baseball game. Maybe it’s just your favorite sport. Personally, I am very excited for baseball season for five reasons.
1) Weather
I, like most people, am tired of the cold! I want more than anything to be able to walk outside in a t-shirt and shorts and sandals. Is that too much to ask? Baseball season starting means summer is right around the corner, with the beautiful season of spring in between. Let’s admit it, we’re all a little happier in the summer. I’m ready for warm, sunny days spent at the ballpark, cheering on my favorite baseball teams. I’ve had enough of the winter blues, bring on the summer sun!
2) Tailgating
Whether you’re at a Major League Baseball game, or your younger brother’s Little League game, it’s always an appropriate time for a tailgate. Tailgates are a perfect way to get excited for the big game, and to get everyone in the baseball mood. Grab your best friends, your family, a portable grill with some hot dogs, and you’re all set. Blast that music and soak up the sun.
3) Baseball Fashion
Tuck away those football jerseys and bring out those baseball tee’s. There’s nothing cuter than a baseball cap and jeans, and you can rock this ensemble all summer long. Whether you’re at the game or the grocery store with your mom, baseball game fashion is now in season. Treat yourself and buy your favorite team’s t-shirt. It’s a perfect outfit to wear to the games, or just to hang out in. Yes, it’s finally acceptable to wear baseball attire again.
4) Ballpark Atmosphere
There really is nothing better than a day at the ballpark. The smell of hot dogs, beer, and pretzels. The sound of the baseball coming in contact with the bat ever so quickly, the cheering fans, and of course the view of your favorite player on the field, lookin’ good in those baseball pants. But especially, being surrounded by your friends and family, smiling and laughing, sensing in that moment all the memories being made.
5) New Hope
Maybe your favorite NFL team failed you, or maybe your NBA team isn’t looking too hot, or, unfortunately, maybe both. With a new sports season, a new season in general, comes new hope. A fresh start, a new beginning. Make it a fun one, regardless of how your team does. You may not be able to control the game score, but you can control that. Have faith, and wear that baseball jersey proudly. Your team’s got this.
So, good luck baseball fans. This one's gonna be a good one, I can feel it.
