As someone who suffers from chronic migraines myself, I truly understand how lonely the continuous battle for peace can make someone. So to anyone who suffers from migraines, I hope these following listed instances are (sadly) able to relate to, helping you feel less alone.

1. Interrupted reading

Even during the most suspenseful chapter, sometimes the neck and eye pain is too much. Not to mention the blurring words.

2. Inside voices aren't quiet enough

Trust me, we hate having to ask others to quiet down. It's just simply too loud.

3. Screens are never dim enough

I always have my phone the dimmest it goes, on night mode, and on battery saving mode.

4. Napping to avoid the pain

Napping rarely ever takes the pain away, but it's an opportunity to avoid the pain.

5. Hearing "it's all in your head"

Reallly? NO WAY! I had NOOO idea.... Yes the pain and sources of pain are mostly all in my head, but that doesn't make them less real.

6. How annoying it is when people claim they're having a migraine while only having a minor headache

Take an ibuprofen and hush... .please?

7. Missing concerts

I was once a rather avid concert goer, but it's now simply a choice of whether the loud music and screams are worth the pain.

8. Switching to glasses to strain the eyes less

I love wearing my contacts, but my glasses require less work for my eyes. Therefore, less work equals less pain.

9. Ibuprofen and Tylenol are equal to water

10. Yet, Ibuprofen and Tylenol are always on hand

11. Appointments upon appointments

12. Temporary relief by massage

Massages are magical. If only the relief lasted forever.

13. Drenching self with essential oils

Peppermint and basil work wonders!

14. Avoiding specific foods/drinks

It's very important to know your personal triggers. Many foods and drinks are triggers of mine. Avoid your triggers, or at least know what your're opening yourself up to.

15. Crying either helps or hurts

Generally crying is the onset of a migraine located behind my eyes. Other times, crying releases emotions that were building up pain.

16. Brain fog

Having forgotten my own name, where I was headed when driving, the year, and so much more... Brain fog derives from all the pain masking the brain.

17. Never feeling relieved

Is it our purpose in life to endure pain? 24/7?

19. The dreaded aura

If you feel the onset of an aura, you more than likely want to run and hide. From out-of-body experiences, confusion, trouble talking, numbness- you become a delirious version of yourself.

20. Triggers

Smelling a strong cologne, walking into a store with fluorescent lighting, people raising their voices over an argument, etc.

21. Depression

It's such an isolating illness. You are trapped in a body that demands you to feel the pain.

22. Desperately open to new pain-relief techniques

Biofeedback, massage, acupuncture, nerve blockers? YUM

23. Vertigo

Feeling as if the room is spinning or you're about to fall/pass out.

24. Blurred/Moving vision

Stairs appear to be spinning, reading can be difficult, stationary objects appear to be moving, etc.

25. Social life disturbances

Falling asleep at gatherings, sleeping in and missing gatherings, continuously zoning out of conversation, unable to be distracted from the pain, etc.

26. Stuffy nose, watery eyes, feels like ears are full

27. Neck pain

28. Yawning

I might as well take my selfies while yawning, because then my profiles would be more accurate.

29. Trouble speaking

Rather than taking the time to repeat yourself and try to get the words out, you either wait or take the matter into your own hands and do what you were going to ask of someone.

30. Post-migraine fatigue

Feeling the aftermath of the battle your body just fought. Sometimes your energy seems drained for the entire day afterwards.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
