30 Signs You Know You're From The Bay Area

Growing up in the Bay Area is a privilege only a few get to experience. The sports, food, technology, music and culture make a lasting impact on its residents and visitors. Anyone you have met from The Bay Area is proud to say so, and these are the reasons why.

1. Southern California is a foreign land to you, it might as well be another state.

2. It is assumed you are either a die-hard or band-wagoner fan for The Giants, A's, Sharks, Golden State Warriors, 49ers or Raiders.

3. You can't decide whether the term "Cali" or "San Fran" is more cringe-worthy.

4. We will never let you forget that Tupac, Mac Dre, E-40 and Andre Nickatina originated from the Bay.

5. You've most likely been made fun of for using the word "hella."

6. There was always a rule at school that you could never be fully dressed in blue or red because of gang affiliation.

7. You've seen a concert at either Shoreline or the SAP Center.

8. In-N-Out is never more than 15 minutes away.

9. You know Chinatown sounds a lot more appealing than it actually is.

10. Philz coffee is taking over Starbucks.

11. Caltrain is the cheapest way to go to San Francisco due to all of the parking fees.

12. You've either considered participating in, or have already participated in Bay To Breakers.

13. The Hyphy Movement, need I say more?

14. The LGBTQ is a largely celebrated community, nothing compares to the Gay Pride Parade in San Francisco.

15. You think it's too touristy to visit places like Alcatraz and the Ghiradelli Factory.

16. No one ever wants to drive on the 17 highway to get to Santa Cruz.

17. You know the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has a mediocre beach and rides, but the food is amazing.

18. You've memorized the Shane Company commercial.

19. The radio stations, 94.9, 99.7, and 106.1 are your go-to's.

20. You get overly offended when someone thinks they are from the Bay when they in fact, are not.

21. You've driven over the Bay Bridge way more times than the Golden Gate Bridge.

22. You'll never miss an opportunity to yell "Yay Area!"

23. The harshest winter you've experienced was in Lake Tahoe.

24. You're convinced Stephen Curry is more talented than Michael Jordan.

25. It is almost certain that The Giants will win the World Series because it's an even year.

26. You feel bad for the people that didn't grow up around the best restaurants.

27. You would never even consider calling a taxi since Uber is always available.

28. You can not believe how cheap it is to live in places that aren't in Silicon Valley.

29. Either your parents or one of your friends parents is in tech.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
