25 Things I'd Like To Thank My Parents For

Thank you for your wonderful parenting, because if I do say so myself, I turned out pretty fantastic.

25 Things I'd Like To Thank My Parents For

You two are, and forever will be, my best friends. You are two-thirds of our Three Musketeers, and I'd like to thank you for these 25 things:

1. Thank you for all the coaching, on and off the field. You guys were, and still are, my biggest supporters and the ones I used to call on the way home from a horrible game and now call during my horrible finals week.

2. Thank you for the constant carpooling. Without you, I wouldn’t have the friends I made, the awards on my walls or the memories that will last me a lifetime. I know that being on many travel teams and clubs wasn’t as fun for you as it was for me.

3. Thank you for always saying “love you too” after we butt heads, even if it is just to get me to stop screaming “I LOVE YOU” around the house. I know you guys do love me, I just like to annoy you :)

4. Thank you for dinner and every other type of food in our house at all times. Seriously, without that, I don't know what I would do in my free time.

5. Thank you for always being known as the protective parents. “Better safe than sorry.”

6. Thank you for giving me freedom and space.

7. Thank you for calling me out on when I take advantage of my freedom and space.

8. Thank you for always answering my FaceTime calls before I go to bed at school, and yes, I do this every day.

9. Thank you for listening to me ramble all the time, whether it be about sports, friends, boyfriends or what flavor ice cream I had that day.

10. Thank you for the advice you give me.

11. Thank you for listening to the questions I ask and for the answers I receive from you both.

12. Thank you for working as hard and being my role models.

13. Thank you for your wonderful parenting, because if I do say so myself, I turned out pretty fantastic.

14. Thank you for not having children after me because being the youngest is the best thing EVER!

15. Thank you for teaching me to play nice, but to not let people walk all over me.

16. Thank you for chasing me around the house when I was younger just to give my butt a smack when I was getting fresh. I will never forget that! Or the countless times I had to walk up and down the stairs if I slammed my bedroom door. I learned my lesson, trust me.

17. Thank you for giving me money when I recite the line “help me, I’m poor” from the movie "Bridesmaids," because, let's be honest, I AM A POOR COLLEGE STUDENT.

18. Thank you for offering to teach someone “a lesson” whenever someone made me upset.

19. Thank you for making sure ice cream was always in the freezer for me every night, it means a lot.

20. Thank you for telling me I looked pretty, even when I for sure know you were lying. Or even when you weren't lying but would laugh as I sang “I got it from my mama” because seriously, I got it all from her. Sorry Dad, at least I got your sense of humor.

21. Thank you for teaching me that I don’t have to like everyone I come across, because the three of us know a laundry list of people I don’t like.

22. Thank you for teaching me the importance of effort. I may not always succeed, but trying is half the battle.

23. Thank you for teaching me that there is a time and place for everything.

24. Thank you for always putting your children before yourselves.

25. And, thank you for never telling the other kids that I am your favorite, but never deny it when I rub it in their face that “they love me more!”

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
