Since the hashtag became a trending topic on Twitter last week, I’ve decided to post my own variation of things people can relate to if they've grown up in NJ. We may not be the biggest state, but we're one of the most populated, most famous and most amazing states in the U.S. Yes, I AM SURE OF THAT. SORRY AM I BEING TOO LOUD?? I DON'T CARE I HAVE TOO MUCH PRIDE FOR MY STATE!!

1. Fighting with people about what you call this. (By the way, it's Taylor Ham and Obama even said so)

2. Not having to worry about pumping your own gas.

3. Living 20 minutes from at least 2-3 different malls.

4. Even if you're going all the way to Cape May you still felt like this was the halfway point to the shore.

5. Ordering these at the diner every single time. (#discofries)

6. Most people would rather buy tickets close-up to the singers, but you know sitting right here on the lawn is better.

7. Prom weekend was either spent in Wildwood or Seaside.

8. You've stressed about ripping the colored seals off this state test.

9. TBT to when Halloween was cancelled.

10. Conquering your fear of roller coasters here.

11. Actually getting to celebrate Mischief Night.

12. But knowing fireworks are technically illegal.

13. Hearing things outside when it's dark out and assuming it's him.

14. Every time you hear the name Sandy you cringe a little.

15. Spending hours waiting for this channel to call your town out.

16. Dealing with traffic/road rage.

17. Knowing the unofficial start of summer is Memorial Day Weekend and the end is Labor Day weekend.

18. Being Pizza snobs...and bagel snobs...and honestly, Jersey just has some of the best food.

19. It's called a jug handle not a "left turn."

20. Feeling like your school was the only one that didn't get the snow day call.

21. Never knowing what to wear outside because the weather is completely unpredictable.

22. Sports teams are a huge debate. Jets or Giants, Yankees or Mets, Devils or Rangers.

23. Your biggest accomplishment was knowing each exit on the parkway. (116 PNC, 82 Seaside Heights, 98 Point Pleasant, 63 LBI)

24. It's considered a sin if you don't listen to some of the greats from here. (I'm looking at you Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Sinatra, Jersey Boys)

25. And finally, being so proud of your state that you don't let anyone tell you we're not the best.

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
