From the long hours spent at the gym to the rope climbs and over splits, here are 10 fun facts about gymnastics you can relate to if you were a gymnast! Enjoy reminiscing!

1. Over splits were the worst part of practice.

2. It isn't all that uncommon to pee a little when you tumble.

3. Wanting so badly to pick your wedgie during your floor routine but not wanting the extra tenths off.

4. The endless amount of rope climbs.

5. Being upside down actually feels completely normal.


6. Beam never getting less scary.


7. "Yes I can do a backflip."


8. You also get asked if you can do "the splits."

9. Eating mat, and eating mat hard.

10. Stick it wasn't a myth. We do get deductions for your bra or underwear sticking out.

11. The literal hundreds of bobby pins you have to take out after a meet.

12. You were the life of the party if there was a trampoline.

13. You watch gymnastics on tv religiously.

14. When someone compares cheerleading to gymnastics you simply have to disagree.

15. Chalk was basically the 6th food group for you.

16. You still have all of your old leos because you just can't get rid of them.

17. "Make it or Break it" definitely did not correctly represent the sport...but you still found yourself watching every episode.

18. You have an emotional attachment to your grips.

19. Doing flips on the beach is simply a staple to any beach trip.

20. Being pretty much immune to dizziness.

21. Even though you aren't practicing anymore, you still will always identify yourself as a gymnast.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
