20 Things To Do At 20 Something

It's time to step outside of your comfort zone.

20 Things To Do At 20 Something

With a new decade of life comes new experiences and opportunities. You know more than you knew yesterday, yet you'll never be as young as you are today. In your 20s, force yourself to step outside of your comfort zone and make memories you'll be proud of one day.

1. Say yes more.

Say yes to going out last minute with friends, yes to late night pizza and yes to the guy who wants to take you out on a date. Good things come from yes.

2. Take time for yourself.

It can be fun hanging out with people all the time, but there is nothing wrong with personal time every once in awhile too. Treat yourself to a pedicure and curl up on the couch. You deserve it.

3. Set goals and have high expectations.

This is a time to really focus on yourself and decide on what you want to do with the rest of your life. Do you want to live in the city someday? Start networking and reaching out now.

4. Meet new people.

Whether in class or at work, learn to expand your circle. You never know where you may find a new friend or just someone who could alter the way you view things.

5. Fall in love.

If you want. Although I highly suggest you put yourself out there. It doesn't have to be forever, but being in love and being loved is an incomparable feeling.

6. Take an unplanned road trip.

Grab your pals, some snacks, blast good music and hit the road. Whether you're going across the country or to a nearby town, there's something enjoyable about an open road.

7. Work hard, play harder.

There is a lot to be said about someone who is dedicated to their work. But with that, if you devote all of your time to work, you'll go crazy. Celebrate your successes, (try to) forget about failures and move on.

8. Learn how to manage your money.

Try putting away a certain amount of money from every paycheck and save it for something big. Don't dig yourself into a huge debt hole and pay off your loans sooner rather than later.

9. Take a lot of pictures.

Take pictures of the highs and the lows. Take pictures of friends, of family, of that really delicious breakfast you ate and your favorite view at home. Everything.

10. Journal.

Write things down! You don't even have to be a good writer to do this. Keep a journal and reflect on your day, or on your goals. Writing things down makes them much more tangible.

11. Learn to cook.

You can't live off of take-out and frozen dinners forever. Call your mom and ask for your favorite recipe, then grocery shop and whip up a delicious meal. Not only will it save you money, but it's much healthier.

12. Spend time with family.

Don't take your family for granted, they love you no matter what. Go home on the weekends when you can, and call your parents or siblings when you have free time. They'll appreciate it.

13. Network.

These days it's not what you know, but who you know. If you want to reach those big goals of your's, you'll need some help along the way.

14. Become an educated member of society.

Keep up with current events and vote! People will take you more seriously when you have an opinion about what's going on in the world. Watch the news or read it on your phone every morning. You'll thank yourself later.

15. Drink coffee. Lots of it.

Caffeine is naturally the key to survival, especially after a late night, or just any Monday morning in general. Go on coffee dates with friends and sit in cute coffee shops and read. Pro tip: little unique coffee shops are almost always better than Starbucks.

16. Deal with heart break.

This won't be fun, but it will teach you a lot about yourself and relationships in general. Get upset over a boy, then move on and realize how awesome your friends are.

17. Travel and explore, near and far.

Whether by plane, train, bus or car, leave your safety net every once in awhile. The world is a massive place full of amazing views, food and people. It would be a shame to stay in one place for your whole life.

18. Change up your style.

Hair, make up, clothes, whatever; change is good, embrace it! Chop all of your hair off and donate it to a good organization or clean out your closet and make room for new items.

19. Take care of your body.

Find a gym you love with a class that makes you excited about working out. It's important to take care of your body and watch what you put in it. You'll be glad you did some day down the road.

20. Live in every moment.

The older I get, the quicker I realize how fast time goes by. Make sure you're enjoying every second, because these days will be gone before you know it.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
