20 Things That Happen When You Find Your "Soulmate Best Friend"

My roommate has very quickly become my ride or die. We are scary similar in a lot of ways and have gotten damn near inseparable. It’s funny because we went to high school together and have lived in the same neighborhood basically all of our lives and had never become friends until now. This year, however, we have made up for all of that lost time. Leah’s my BFF and I am more blessed to have her in my life than she probably even knows.

Having a relationship like this definitely comes with a few guarantees, and things that Leah and I have noticed about ourselves…

  1. You can finish each other’s sentences and basically read the others mind
  2. You know each other’s Starbucks/Chipotle/late night pizza order by heart
  3. You find yourself coming across gifs/funny videos that you have to send IMMEDIATELY because you’ll know she’ll find them just as funny as you.
  4. When she’s in a bad mood, you’re in a bad mood.
  5. TMI…but mother nature has you in sync
  6. You feel more in a relationship with her than any boy in your life
  7. And when a boy does come in your life he has to be approved by her
  8. When the other has a hard test/bad day you have margs ready for her when she gets home
  9. What’s yours is hers and vice versa
  10. Sometimes people have thought you were actually dating
  11. And because you’re the same person and life is weird, you’re always single/in a pseudo relationship at the same time
  12. You'd rather take her to your sorority formal than a boy
  13. Closets are always open to each other, no clothes are off limits
  14. You have your favorite shows recorded and watching it before the other one is the ultimate betrayal
  15. She’ll tell you when you look really, really hot and you look really not (with all the love in the world, of course)
  16. She’ll put water, Advil, and a trashcan next to your bed when you come home from a night after getting a little too ~lit~
  17. You’ll support each other’s bad decisions
  18. You’ll cry together when life/school/boys/whatever is just too much
  19. She’ll be your favorite road trip companion and the best car ride DJ
  20. You’ll love each other more than any boy you ever thought you were in love with

Thanks for being the Christina to my Meredith.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
