Each time you lace up your Saucony rides to pound out a couple of miles on the pavement, these are the thoughts that creep into your mind. Each mile brings a new random thought inspired by people passing by, storefronts being passed, or the beauty of nature outside - well, that's what runners would want non-runners to think. In reality here are 15 thoughts most runners have while stomping out their 20 mile long run.
1. I love running! I am so pumped for these 20 miles!
2. This Maroon 5 song is setting the perfect tempo for my run!
3. Did I pee before I leave? Crap, I think I forgot to do that before I left.
4. Did I get fat on my day off or did I put this fuel belt on too tight?
5. What an adorable dog that lab is over there!
6. Wow - I really want that dog.
7. *Slightly falls* *catches self* That was close. Stupid dog distracting me.
8. UGH. I am dead. How has it's been only 15 miles?
9. Oh no - I really should have gone to the bathroom before this run.
10. Oh great - now I am thirsty. I need water. How did I drink all my water already?
11. UGH! WHY IS THERE A ROCK IN MY SHOE?
12. GOD BLESS I AM ON MILE 18 ONLY TWO MORE MILES!
13. UGH - I really have to pee now.
14. Okay - this Maroon 5 song is getting old.
15. Finally! I am done.
Each long run is a new adventure of fun thoughts ranging from dogs, to Maroon 5, to having to pee. Each mile pounded out on the pavement (or trailway) is made fun by how hyperactive the mind is. For all you non runners out there, go give running a mile a try, and see where your thoughts go.
