The biggest blessing in my life has hands down always been my brothers. I am extremely lucky--not only to have them--but also to have close friendships with them. Each relationship is special and different in their own way, as are all older versus younger sibling relationships. And as a middle child, I have the privilege of knowing and experiencing the benefits of both.

For right now, though, I want to focus on all the blessings my older brother has brought into my life, and to make sure he knows how much he is appreciated. So here's just a few of the many things I think he deserves to be thanked for:

1. For being way more than my brother.

You're first and foremost my brother, but you're also one of my best friends (as well as my first first friend), my biggest fan, a constant support, and my protector all in one. Oh...and sometimes my bully, but I know you always mean well.

2. For going through it all before me, and always having the best advice to give.

All the big moments, milestones, and rights of passage while growing up. From friend drama to your first date to choosing where to go to college, you went through it all first. So when I'm freaking out and don't know how to handle those big-deal situations, I know can always count on you to tell me what to do (and sometimes what not to do), as well as remind me that it'll all be okay, no matter what.

3. For never letting me settle for anything less than the best.

I'm your little sister. You've been there since day one, and you know me better than most in this world. I know you want nothing but the best for me; you always have been, and always will be there to remind me (and anyone else that comes along) exactly what I deserve.

4. For always having my back when our family is driving me crazy.

In those moments when mom or dad is making me insane and they just don't understand where I'm coming from, I know you do. And you're always willing to stand up for me in an argument, no matter what. Thanks for keeping me sane through all the family drama--I don't know how I would do it without you.

5. For never being afraid to tell it like it is.

You're never afraid to be completely honest and tell me exactly what's on your mind. Sometimes all we need is to hear the truth, so thanks for being willing to be the one who will point it out in every situation, and give me a loving push in the right direction.

6. For always being willing to listen when I'm having a rough time.

I love that you're always more than happy to be all ears for a bit. You've seen me at my worst, and you never fail to pick me back up when I'm down. You remind me that it will all work itself out (and you're proof of that.)

7. For always being willing to act like children together, no matter how old we get.

All the inside jokes, funny memories, in-the-moment laughing fits, and much more. I hope we never outgrow any of it.

8. For being my first and best role model.

I got to see you grow up and accomplish so much for yourself. You certainly set the bar high for us younger siblings, but you have also given me the motivation to push myself in and out of school and to keep going...no matter what. You're a big part of the reason why I will never stop until I accomplish my dreams.

9. For all the teasing and torture as children that taught me how to stand up for myself.

I'm pretty sure roughing up younger siblings is in every older brother's job description, and you're no different. The way I remember it mostly includes many frustrated moments, tears, and oh yeah, that dislocated elbow one time. However, as I reflect on it now, I can see it in a new light. Growing up with you as my older brother made me the tough, resilient, and strong individual that I am today.

10. For taking the blame so I wouldn't have to.

As the oldest, I'm sure there were plenty of times where mom punished you for something I did or started, because of course, "you're the oldest, and you need to set a good example". I'd like to say you always accepted the blame because you would do anything for me, but I think we all know that's probably not exactly how it went. Regardless, though, you rock because this part of being an older brother couldn't have been fun.

11. For always being my biggest fan.

Remember how loud you cheered at my high school graduation? Yeah, me too. I was pretty embarrassed. But I also loved every second of it. I'll always remember how happy you were that day--you had the biggest smile. And this is just one example. Even for all the moments that you can't be there to cheer me on, you never fail to text or call and let me know how proud you are. I appreciate this more than you know.

12. For being my example of what a good guy looks like.

Between you and dad, the bar is set so damn high.

13. For always having my back, no matter what.

No matter the time or situation, I know I will always be able to count on you for support. And, with you on my side, I know there's no way anyone could get away with treating me poorly.

14. For all your old hand-me-downs that make the best lounging clothes.

Because a girl can never have enough comfy clothes, and the old ones from your closet make the best options. Thanks for not minding when I steal an old sweatshirt or two.

15. For breaking mom and dad in for me.

I'm guessing the reason they're so chill with us younger kids is that they went through it all with you first. So even though this wasn't your choice, thanks for working out all their kinks for us. You're the best.

So here's to all the big brothers out there; thanks for all that you are and all that you do. You guys are the best.

And a special shoutout to my brother, Nick. You're pretty great, and now I hope you know just how grateful I am to have you in my life. Love you always.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
