Comfort zone: a mental or physical area that has very minimal risk and stress potential. The moment your anxiety levels rise, this is a clear sign that you’re stepping out of your comfort zone.

Escaping your comfort zone is definitely not an easy thing to do. As a college student myself, I am presented with opportunities that frequently require me to try new things in order to grow and mature as a person. College is the greatest time in life to challenge your fears in order to become more comfortable in your own skin. There are so many advantages that come with escaping your comfort zone. Not only will it allow you to learn more about yourself, but it can ultimately shape you into a more self-assured individual because you will be more confident in your abilities. Here are some reasons to break free of your comfort zone, it is extremely rewarding in the end…

1. Your comfort zone is a place of unproductivity.

If you remain in your comfort zone throughout your life, you won’t be able to to discover your potential and achieve your goals.

2. In order to progress in life, you need to take the next step…a step outside of your comfort zone.

3. The comfort zone is a place of small-mindedness. You won’t think outside of the box if you constantly remain inside of it.

4. You are given a false sense of security when you’re constantly living comfortably.

5. You will become a stronger person because you will reach higher levels in your professional and personal life.

6. Your creativity will be strengthened and you will be able to see things in a new way, ultimately gaining new perspectives.

7. Once you get comfortable with being uncomfortable, you will overcome feelings of fear.

8. You will become a more emotionally tough individual which is a significant characteristic to possess in life.

9. A life without experiencing slight anxiety is a life that really isn’t worth living. It’s necessary to have a bit of fear in order to stay productive.

10. Having a level of uncertainty is a good thing because it fuels advancement.

11. You can learn to adjust more quickly to the ever-changing situations that come with life.

12. You will start to eliminate feelings of insecurity.

13. The internal reward that you will experience is a feeling like no other.

14. You won’t find yourself battling with thoughts of worthlessness.

15. You will be on your way to becoming a more well-rounded and overall better person.

It is common knowledge that human beings are creatures of habit. We get stuck in a routine which is completely normal and essentially makes life easy. It does not help that we are instinctively fearful creatures as well. The unfamiliar frightens us and oftentimes results in us remaining in our comfort zone.

After reading this article, I hope you’re inspired to conquer the unfamiliar. You will learn so much by embarking on new challenges. There is so much that life has to offer, so don’t waste your time just because you’re afraid of approaching the unknown.

I want to leave you with a quote: “You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it.” Always remember that you can accomplish anything that you put your mind to.
