15 Life Lessons From Friday Night Lights
Us Weekly

If you've ever watched the TV show "Friday Night Lights" you know that Coach Eric Taylor and his wife, Tami Taylor, give some pretty great pep talks and life advice throughout the show, as well as the other characters. After five seasons of the show, QB changes, moving, falling in and out of love, there were many of life lessons learned. Just always remember: Texas Forever.

1. "Every man, at some point in his life, is going to lose a battle. He is going to fight and he is going to lose. But what makes him a man, is that in the midst of that battle, he does not lose himself." - Coach Eric Taylor

2. "You're gonna win or you're gonna lose. Either way, the sun is still gonna come up tomorrow morning." - Tami Taylor

Keep your head up. It's what Tami Taylor would tell you to do.

3. "You listen to people that love you and you listen to people that you trust. Most of all, you listen to yourself." - Coach Eric Taylor

Believe in yourself.

4. "Two years ago, I was afraid of wanting anything. I figured wanting would lead to trying, and trying would lead to failure. But now I find I can't stop wanting. I want to fly somewhere in first class. I wanna travel to Europe on a business trip. I wanna get invited to the White House. I wanna learn about the world. I wanna surprise myself. I wanna be important. I wanna be the best person I can be. I wanna define myself instead of having others define me. I wanna win and have people be happy for me. I wanna lose and get over it. I wanna not be afraid of the unknown. I wanna grow up to be generous and big hearted, the way that people have been with me. I want an interesting and surprising life. It's not that I think I'm gonna get all these things. I just want the possibility of getting them. College represents this possibility. The possibility that things are going to change. I can't wait." - Tyra

Dream big and go chase after it. Life is full of possibilities.

5. "You can't beat yourself up because you're taking chances on things. But don't start giving up on what you set forth to do in the beginning. 'Cause that's gonna get you nowhere. I can promise you that." - Coach Eric Taylor

Would Coach Taylor want you to give up? No. Don't give up.

6. "Women are to be respected." - Coach Eric Taylor

Preach, Coach!

7. "I'm a firm believer in 'You can do anything you put your mind to,' and yourself - you - I believe you can do anything you put your mind to." - Coach Eric Taylor

8. "If you really care about something you don't just give up. You do whatever it takes." - Landry

Never give up on something that you care about. You care about it for a reason.

9. "There's no weakness in forgiveness." - Tami Taylor

10. "All I wanted to do was come home." - Tim Riggins

11. "A few will never give up on you. When you go back out on the field, those are the people I want in your minds. Those are the people I want in your hearts." - Coach Eric Taylor

12. "I said you need to strive to be better, I didn't say you needed to be better than everyone else. But you've gotta try. That's what character is. It's in the trying." - Coach Eric Taylor

Be your best self. Always.

13. "You never know what's going on with somebody, sweetie. Can't take it personally." - Tami Taylor

Everyone is fighting a battle that we may know nothing about.

14. "Right here, right now, God has placed you to do what you do best. Go all the way." - Coach Eric Taylor

God brought you right where you are for a reason. Go do what you've been called to do.

15. "Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't lose." - Coach Eric Taylor

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
