14 New Habits You Need To Form in 2018

You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.

1. Wake up and go to bed early

Sleep is so important and besides, who doesn't love sleep?

2. Make your bed every morning

If you accomplish one small task, then the rest of your day will be full of more accomplishments.

3. Drink a big glass of water as soon as you wake up

This starts your day off on the right foot. I usually have trouble making sure that I drink water every day so this just helps me on track with my small goals.

4. Morning and evening meditation

If you like to meditate do it, or you can just sit in silence and take deep breaths. Or an even better idea is just sit in silence with no cell phone for 10 mins every day.

5. Put on clothes that make you feel good, even if you're at home today

Dress for success, even if you don't go out.

6. Write out your goals to remind yourself what you're working for

Things might be hard now, but it'll get better.

7. Make a plan for your day

To do lists, grocery lists, homework lists, reminders, etc.

8. Spend an hour a day doing something you like

Reading, writing, playing an instrument, drawing, watching TV, or do whatever it is that you want to do for yourself for an hour.

9. Do one thing you've been putting off

We all do this; let's be honest.

10. Spend an hour learning something

If you already go to class every day, I think that counts. But if you want to be overproductive, spend another hour learning something new.

11. Come up with five new ideas

Five things that you could improve on, five things you need to do, five things that you're thankful for, etc.

12. Give a compliment or smile to a stranger

It's always nice to be kind.

13. Declutter one item every day

This explains itself.

14. Make a list for tomorrow to clear your mind before you sleep.

Sometimes I have trouble going to sleep at night because my brain won't calm down. I think about the things I need to do, the things I've already finished or just in general how my overall day went. Write this stuff down instead and deal with it tomorrow. Every day is a fresh start

Finally, just be happy day-to-day. Be grateful, be kind, be loving, be adventurous and be the best you that you can be, daily.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
