Just like most millennials, I too have been binge watching the new Netflix show “13 Reasons Why”. While watching it you realize not only how quickly someone can take their life, but also what little things can trigger someone to feel empty and alone whether you are realizing at the time what you are doing or not. I got to thinking and thought of all the little things the main character, Hannah Baker, could have been told that might have made her not take her life. While this might be a made up show, it is obvious that there are so many other people just like Hannah Baker out there in the world today. That being said, I knew this needed to be shared. Here are 13 reasons why your life is worth living.

You are special

Nobody else is made like you. Yeah, there may be people similar to you, but nobody on this earth is made the way you are. God has a plan for you, and ONLY you. While sometimes it is easy to feel invisible and unwanted, the world is not the same without you because there is no other you.

The best is yet to come

Nothing about what people say to you will matter in 5 years. If that, give it ONE year. As hard as it is to believe sometimes, life does get better. While you may think the world is over because you've been bullied, heartbroken, or even just had a bad day- always remember there is hope in front you and good days are right in front of you whether you can see them or not.

You are loved by so many

Many feel as if everyone hates them if they are noticed at school, or feel lonely in a crowded room, but the truth is...who cares about the people in that room or school if they are making you feel that way? You are SO loved by not only your family and friends, but also by God. Never let the love that truly matters be covered up by those who make you feel small.

Everyone has bad days

Bad days are inevitable. Even bad weeks, bad months, and even bad years. But there is no such thing as a bad life. There are too many great things about life to let a couple of mean girls and bad days let you think otherwise.

Others feel the same way as you

Bullies are everywhere. In this world we live in finding a place with no bullies is inevitable. No matter how hard authorities try, every school, every office building, even every street corner there will be mean, nasty people. Everyone has been bullied, and many have even been the bully themselves. Look to others for help no matter the circumstance. You are not, and are NEVER, alone.

Your life is amazing

Believe it or not, your life is freaking amazing. Instead of focusing on little things make you upset, and at the end of the day don’t matter, focus on the great things about your life. Think about all the times you've laughed and smiled and been happy. Guaranteed too many times to even think or count. Don’t let a little thing make you feel as if your life isn’t worth it. The good times are too good to focus on the bad.

There is goodness everywhere you go

While sometimes it is hard to believe, this world is filled some amazing things. With all the nastiness going on around the world the great things happening are often covered up, but this world is filled with the kindest, warm-hearted, positive people. Instead of surrounding yourself with bullies and negativity, look for the positive and kind people.

You're awesome

Enough said….you're awesome. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Your future is waiting

While sometimes you may feel useless and unneeded, your future is still so far ahead. No matter what people may make you feel like, it is nothing compared to what your future holds. So until that time comes, be strong and live your life to the fullest you can!

Live for those who can’t

The world we live in is filled with so much disease and sickness and so many lives are lost due to these horrible illnesses. While nothing on our part can stop these illnesses from occurring, it’s important to live for those who can’t. Live is such a precious thing that can be taken away so quickly. While some days it feels like you can’t move forward, it is important to think of those who have lost their lives and tell yourself, “I can do this”.

Everyone has a story

You may think that your life sucks and that everyone else around you has the perfect life, but believe it or not, everyone has a story. Your story may be more intense and hard than others, but I can guarantee you that everyone is going through something whether they are good at hiding it or not. Keep that in mind the next time you compare yourself to others, you never know what they may be going through.

You have impacted so many lives

Whether you realize it or not, you have touched so many people’s lives. You never know if a simple smile you gave in the hallway at school may have made someone's day, or even holding the door at the grocery store might have made someone smile. The little things mean the most and each little act of kindness has a huge effect on people. You have already had an impact on so many people's lives, why stop now?

God loves you

“Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. Isaiah 41:10” God loves you SO much and although you can’t see Him physically his spirit is always with you and He is always there. Just like the Bible verse above says, the Lord is your STRENGTH! You can do anything and everything with God’s help. No problem or situation you may be dealing with is too large for him to handle. Trust His timing.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
