13 Funny Things Girls With Social Anxiety Do

Social anxiety is annoying. It makes me feel like I'm annoying. However, it's common and it hits fast. Social anxiety is in a public relationship with many women, making us feel the need to not be perfect but just pass for normal. No we aren't looking for approval, we just aren't looking for judgement or embarrassment. It's tie consuming and sometimes, our stress gets the best of us. But like in any long term relationship, there is more funny memories than bad, and that's how it is with social anxiety. We learn from our embarrassments, and we soon learn to laugh at them. Us anxious girls are pretty funny when we look back at ourselves. Here are 13 funny things girls with anxiety do.

1. Sweat. Because you are talking to us ... where's the deodorant?

Whether it be an embarrassing story, us accidentally stuttering, talking to a cute guy, or even talking to a best friend, we find our heart racing. It could be in the negatives in the middle of Antarctica and we will start sweating. Men's deodorant is key.

2. Avoiding eye contact. We deserve a gold metal at how quickly we do it.

I kinda know you but not really but are you gonna say hi to me oh my god what if we say hi and you don't know me that will be awkward pretend to look at something else! (Looks at a white wall because there is nothing there.)

3. Commenting on a site and then proceeding to freak out.

Oh god did that sound too mean? I was just stating my opinion/I was just saying they looked good but do they think I am coming onto them? I am throwing away this laptop (hides it then waits until emotionally ready to log on and see if someone commented back).

4. Overanalyzing the first hour after an Instagram post.

Alright people are posting now and it's a good time to so here I go okay ten likes in five minutes let's keep it up oh god it's been a couple minutes and no one liked it! Turn off the phone or text whoever hasn't liked it yet — ask them to comment too!

5. Talking way too fast. Another gold medal please cause we are so fast!

We don't like the situation which makes us talk as if periods and commas don't exist and then words start mumbling together because we just want to stop talking so why not go fast even though you can't understand us now we are sweating so lets run away and avoid eye contact the next time we see you.

6. Checking before we wrecking.

Girls with social anxiety don't need to look like models, but we need to look like we have our acts together, so yes, that means we have to put on skinny jeans and some foundation to tone down the rosy cheeks. And we gotta check our reflection so people think we have our lives in order.

7. Overthinking so much that our thoughts actually make sense.

Yeah, we sometimes go overboard because if we decide to talk to this person then it can only lead to embarrassment even though that's not the case. This person is actually chill and likes our presence? One less nightmare to deal with. Let's celebrate how awesome we are!

8. "I have to pee."

In other words, I am either hiding from someone or am so nervous that I gotta go!

9. Getting rid of stress energy.

We workout ... we have some deep breathing ... we watch Netflix ... we shower ... we scream at football games ... we have one woman dance parties in our rooms ...

10. Actually getting guys.

Okay just hear me out for a minute. The funniest thing girls with anxiety do is use it to their advantage at times. Anxiety does not mean we aren't confident. We just aren't smooth, and guys see we are human. We are quirky, approachable, and still a catch. A little bit of stress with the opposite sex works.

11. Acting too chill when we aren't anxious.

We block our stress with eating while wearing a sports bra and no makeup. And we unclench our stomachs, placing our food baby in sight. We don't need to be called pretty. We just need to look professional. When we aren't stressed, we become close to hobos.

12. Being really funny because of embarrassing memories.

The story isn't a joke- that was me embarrassing myself in seventh grade ... then again, it is pretty funny...and these people aren't judging. Let's laugh at myself a bit — loosen up the spring a bit.

13. Hyping ourselves up for the day.

Pep talk is key. Pep talk is everything (and a good breakfast.)

We got this. We will embarrass ourselves, but we are ready for it. Soon, we will just learn and laugh at ourselves again. Here's to anxiety and it making us look good — at times.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
