Winter Break is the perfect time to binge watch some Netflix shows, both new and old. Whether you have already watched these shows before or you are ready to try something new, here are ten of my favorite Netflix shows that I’ll be rewatching over winter break, in no particular order.

1. Gilmore Girls

This is by far my favorite show in the world. The best part about Gilmore Girls is that they just released “Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life.” After you finish binge-watching all the original episodes of Gilmore Girls, you can watch the four “mini-movie season.” The show is a heartwarming story about Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory. The bond this mother/daughter duo shares is amazing. I highly recommend watching this show!

2. House

House is a show that I binge-watched a long time ago. It made me want to become a doctor at one point (but that plan fell through). If you’re a fan of hospital shows but also a fan of comedy, then this one is for you. I like the comedy that House adds while they also try and solve “hard-to-solve cases.” House’s job was created specifically for him and it’s crazy to see how House and his team are able to solve these mysterious cases.

3. Gossip Girl

This is another fan favorite. My roommate and I started to rewatch Gossip Girl during the school year. Watch the crazy antics of high school students on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It’s amazing to think about how these stories might actually be true on the Upper East Side. Watch to find out who ends up together, whose life gets ruined, and who Gossip Girl is.

4. Friends

Friends is the wonderful show that your parents probably enjoyed in their twenties or thirties. This show was one of my favorites and it always made me wish that I had a group of friends like the six of them. The show is funny while also remaining semi-realistic as it depicts the lift of Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe.

5. The Office

This is another show that I have already binge-watched again. The mockumentary is hilarious and Jim and Pam are relationship goals. Steve Carrell is one of the prominent characters as he plays Michael Scott. This show is funny for any age. Watch Jim pull pranks on Dwight and see how the coworkers at Dunder Mifflin interact with each other. “Bears, beats, Battlestar Galactica.”

6. Parks and Recreation

This show is like The Office except with a totally new set of characters. It is set up as a mockumentary and takes place in Pawnee, Indiana. Amy Poehler plays Leslie Knope, and you get to watch as her and her fellow coworkers in the Parks Department carry out their lives in their little town.

7. The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

This show is hilarious and I cannot wait for the next season to come out. Kimmy Schmidt was locked in a bunker for years and is not accustomed to the world as it is now. Watch her start her life over in New York City as she comes from nothing. Her and her new friends are up to some crazy things!

8. Stranger Things

Although there is only one season of Stranger Things thus far, it is a great show to binge-watch. I think I finished it in two or three days this semester. Start watching now so you can get prepared for the new season that is coming in two-thousand seventeen. There are many “mind-blown” moments and you will easily fall in love with the kids who are the stars of the show.

9. Chopped

While Chopped isn’t necessarily a show that has a plot, it is one of the best shows on television. They have old episodes on Netflix that I definitely binge-watched (and now I downloaded the Food Network app to my phone so I can be up to date with the newest episodes of Chopped). This is the best cooking shows and the competition is great. I definitely recommend this show if you want to check out a cooking show!

10. Orange is the New Black

This show is the perfect show to binge-watch in order to get ready for the new season that will be coming out in the summer. It is a Netflix Original Show (aka the best shows on Netflix) so be careful because the language isn’t for those who are young. The show focuses on Piper and her experience at Litchfield, an all women prison. The show is funny while also having throwing in some “mind-blowing” moments.

These ten shows are my top ten Netflix picks. My friends recommended many other shows, including Arrow and Black Mirror. There are so many shows on Netflix that you are sure to find one that you can binge-watch this winter break. Happy watching!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
