Are you a college student and/or living on your own, out of your parents home? Well, if you are, you know how difficult it is to organize everything you have. If you’re like me, you most likely bring a large amount of things you’ll never need, never wear, and never look at again until you move out.
Do you ever wonder how great it would be to have things organized and stored perfectly around your dorm or apartment?
Take these tips and help yourself decorate and reorganize!
1. Closet Shoe Organizer
This little device is super helpful, especially since you can see all of your shoes without having to shuffle through a load of high heels you’ve never worn.
2. Nine Cube Organizer
This thing can turn a simple shelf into a night stand, a place to put a TV, a book shelf, and a place to store all the random body sprays you have from Bath & Body Works!
3. Calendar
Any calendar can do the job but I personally love a dry erase calendar or a cork board calendar! With these, you can be very versatile and change from month to month.
4. If you’re in a dorm, loft your bed
Although it might not seem like the most amazing thing to get in and out of a bunk bed, it actually helps your room look bigger! Having extra space under your bed can make more room for fun and activities.
5. Ottoman Storage Box
This guy doubles as a place to sit! Let’s be honest, having friends over and having them all sit on the floor can be a little awkward. So, this ottoman can hold your Cheetos and your friends!
6. Command Strips/Hooks
Now before you totally say, “Allison, stop. Command strips suck,” hear me out. Read the instructions before you apply the hook and try to hang something in the same minute! The instructions say to press the strip onto the surface firmly for 30 seconds. Check instructions for weight limits as well because sometimes, you won’t be able to hang your 90-pound backpack on a Command Hook.
7. Hamper/Laundry Basket
Believe it or not, what your parents used to tell you is actually worth a try. Put your dirty clothes in the hamper! A hamper or laundry basket not only helps you keep your dirty bras off the floor when you bring a date over, but it also helps keep your room more organized and you are able to see the floor!
8. Bedside Caddy
In order for you to be able to keep track of your remote, this thing is a must. Also, it is a handy compartment for snacks!
9. Shower Caddy
This might not be as needed if you have your own bathroom, but it’s definitely necessary if you share bathrooms or have community bathrooms! Also, it helps keep everything in one place so that when your body wash falls over, it doesn’t get all over everything.
10. Space Saver Bags
I don’t want to hear any, “oh but my clothes will get wrinkles,” because you can just iron them out. Space saver bags are literally your best friend, especially when you have one dresser to your name.
11. Shower Curtain Rod
Put an adjustable shower curtain rod up in place of a curtain rod. This can help you not damage your walls! Also doubles as something to make a canopy for your bed. It saves you a lot of money in the end because you won’t have to pay for the obnoxious damage charges!
12. Tupperware
Literally any kind of Tupperware. Literally anytime. It doesn’t have to be the Tupperware brand name and it doesn’t have to cost a lot either! Go to any local grocery store and you’ll find packs of about four. There is also ones with two sides. Oh la la.
