Cape Cod, Massachusetts is known for its wonderful beaches and world-renowned landmarks. There are many things that make Cape Cod what it is. Most people only come for the summer, but for us year-round residents we know there is more to the Cape than just summertime traffic and tourists who don't know where the beach is (tip: just head south). It is home for many of us, and I feel the need to express my love for my home like many others do because we truly live on one of the most beautiful places on this planet.
1. The beaches
Like I said before, the Cape is known for its outstanding beaches and is the largest attraction to tourists.
2. The sunsets
There are no other sunsets like Cape Cod's. So if you visit, go to the beach pointed the most towards the west as that will be your best view yet!
3. The seafood

4. The LGBT pride
I've never felt more proud to live in a state where one town (Provincetown) is all about LGBT pride more than anyone else in the country.
5. Fourth of July overall
Go to the beach during the day and swim, have a cookout with family in the afternoon, and the fireworks display at night - what more could you ask for?
6. The islands
I feel the islands of Cape Cod (Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket) are often overlooked in articles but are still the biggest tourists attractions, whether it is taking the Island Queen out of Falmouth Harbor to Martha's Vineyard or the Steamship Authority in Hyannis to Nantucket.
7. The ice cream
There is nothing better after a long day of work or a day at the beach than homemade ice cream from your favorite ice cream shop.
8. The coffee shops
Although there is almost a Dunkin' Donuts at every corner, the small coffee shops overrule Dunks just because of the environment alone.
9. The small town vibes
Every town has its own charm and brings such a warm feeling when you're walking down main street.
10. The family-owned businesses
Candy shops, clothing stores, restaurants - you name it! Cape Cod is filled with family-owned businesses that thrive because of tourists.
11. The local secret locations
There are a lot of secret hideouts that locals would never tell a tourist just to keep their hideaway like a home away from home.
12. The feeling of coming back
And after being away from the Cape for an hour, day, or even week, there is no better feeling than crossing the Bourne Bridge and being welcomed by the Cape Cod shrubs at the rotary, signaling that you are officially home.
