I have a lot of things to be thankful for. One of the main things I am thankful for is the fact that I grew up on Cape Cod. Growing up on the cape has given me an interesting aspect on life, and now that I go to school in New Hampshire, these are the things I tend to miss the most about my native peninsula:
1. The Ocean
There is nothing I love more in this world than the ocean. Whether it's a day at the beach, picnic at sunset, or a late night drive just to sit in the sand and talk with your best friend the ocean is always there. I know I'm home when I see that never ending blue and smell the brine.
2. Añejo
I crave Añejo's guac like nothing else on this planet. I could eat it with a spoon. (Actually, I have done this and have no regrets about it at all.)
3. Ice Cream
Cape Codders are known for being ice cream snobs, and I fully count myself as one of them. We take ice cream very seriously, because seriously nothing is better than a good cone after a day on the beach.
4. Café Chew
Sandwich's favorite sandwich shop. Whether it's breakfast or lunch "The Chew" is never a bad choice.
5. The Lookout
The sushi is worth the boat ride over to Martha's Vineyard. Looking out over the ocean with friends and some freshly rolled fish is the best feeling.
6. Pie in the Sky
The atmosphere in this cute little coffee shop makes it a popular stop for my friends and I. No one can say no to their fresh baked goodies and smoothies.
7. Community
The cape has an amazing sense of community. We are always willing to help everyone and anyone who needs it.
8. Quicks Hole
Tavern or Taqueria it doesn't matter. I dream of their Chicken Ceasar salad and homemade doughnuts.
9. Knowing everyone
Who doesn't like walking around no matter what town, and seeing at least three people you know?
10. The Sunsets
Nothing is better than a Cape Cod sunset in the summer. I'm fully convinced that there is never a bad one. If you miss the sunset, don't worry, at least five of your friends have a photo in their Snapchat story.
Granted this list is almost all food, but what can I say, I love eating. I obviously miss my family and friends, but I also miss my favorite spots in town. These places, things, and feelings are all what coming home means to me.
