I've never been much of a football aficionado. In fact, I don't like most sports. But, I do end up watching the Super Bowl each year, and here is why I think it is worth watching regardless of how you feel about sports.
1. This year is Super Bowl 50.
For whatever reason, 50 is a significant number. Perhaps it is because it is half a century. Anyway, it is better to watch Super Bowl 50 than Super Bowl 49 or Superbowl 51.
2. Peyton Manning.
Both of the Manning brothers are handsome, but I think that Peyton is a hunk. I'm from Indiana, so sometimes people ask me if I'm a Colts fan, or if now that Peyton is in Denver, if I am a Broncos fan. Both are wrong. I am a Peyton fan. #teampeyton
3. You can watch it with friends.
Everything is better with friends. You get to go to Super Bowl parties with your friends.
4. It gives you an excuse to eat.
Where there is a Super Bowl party, there is also food. Sometimes, I only go for the food.
5. If you're of age, it gives you an excuse to drink.
Adult beverages. #enoughsaid
6. The commercials.
Watching the Super Bowl is the hardest thing because you can't use the restroom during commercials. In fact, this is the one time you actually watch commercials. No talking. No moving. No breathing. And for good reason. Super Bowl commercials are normally entertaining. Plus, they cost millions of dollars for their 30 seconds of fame. Literally.
7. The halftime show.
In fact, some people only tune in for the halftime show. #leftshark #2k15
8. You have conversation starters for at least a week.
Seriously, everyone talks about the Super Bowl. Whether it be the game, the commercials, or the halftime show. There is something for everyone to talk about.
9. Football players are cute.
I'm sure there is statistical proof that football players are cuter than other athletes.
10. The cute football butts.
Call it the pads or not, football players also have cute butts.
11. Because Tom Brady isn't in this Super Bowl.
I typically don't care who is playing. (I'll always support a Manning or the Colts because I'm an Indiana gal.) Who do I want to win when the Patriots play? Whoever is playing the Patriots.
12. Because even if you don't like sports, it's the one time of the year to pretend that you do.
The other 11 reasons on this list make for fun times and good memories. Isn't that the goal?
