11 Things You Learn After May Day At Washington College
Glossy News

It's that time of year again. The festive celebrations of May Day have commenced at Washington College and we've all been affected in one way or another. Whether you watch from the hill, hide in your room, or drive right into the crowd, May Day is an experience to remember for all students at Washington College.

1. Clothing Holders are the most valuable friends you can have

They literally hold your key to escape... you basically owe them your life.

2. Everyone has a butt *gasp*

I know. Shocking.

3. The townie fear is real

We realize this is interesting, but we would appreciate it if you didn't park your lawn chairs to watch....

4. You definitely avoid walking on the Campus Green for the remainder of the semester

Lord only knows what's touched that grass.

5. You probably lost an article of clothing and then found it in a bush a week later

So that's where my underwear went...

6. Public Safety officers are totally under appreciated

I'm sure there's a lot of things they would rather be doing than peeling drunk, naked, college students off of the George Washington statue.

7. It's basically the perfect way to end the semester

Nothing quite says "F*** Finals Week!" Like sprinting around the center of campus in your birthday suit.

8. People are pretty creative at decorating themselves...

Wow. Never knew you could cover that with paint...

9. Falling down hurts a lot more when you have no clothes on.

That grass burn? Yeah not meant to be on that part of you body.

10. There's a very strange sense of community that you feel.

You feel a lot more connection to everyone after you've ran naked laps with them

11. It's not quite as taboo as you thought

Surprisingly, running around naked with 500 of your closest friends isn't as weird as you expected it to be.

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
