The things that best friends do for and with each other are often very weird to anyone outside of the friendship. Being a best friend is like be a babysitter, a sister, a mother, a puppy, and a bodyguard all wrapped in to one. It's a lot of work but it's always worth it because you get all the same things in return. These are some things you've probably done with or for your best friend.
1. Acted As Their Significant Other To Get Someone Away From Them At Bars/Clubs
I don't know about anyone else but I have publically hit on my best friends more than I have hit on any boyfriend I have ever had. My role at bars/clubs is the proud girlfriend and I play it well.
2. Sent Them A Text That You Literally Could Not Send To Anyone Else Without Judgement
Embarrassing stories, boarderline pornagraphic photos, they've seen and heard it all. It's to the point that you could never stop being best friends because you both just have too much information about each other. You're in this forever and that's okay.
3. Called Their Parents "Mom and Dad"
It's like you know they didn't create or give birth to you but they did create your other half so that's close enough. You know you're siblings at heart, so that means you have to have the same parents.
4. Considered Calling It Quits On Dating And Just Starting A Family Together
Real dating is complicated and you've discovered already that you will never meet anyone as perfect as your best friend. So, at the very least it has crossed your mind that getting married and adopting is by far your best plan of action to find happiness.
5. Sent Screenshots Of Your Conversation With Someone - And They Get More Fired Up Than You
You're fighting with another friend or a significant other and your best friend is taking it harder than you are. You are keeping a level head and being like "we should talk this out," while your best friend is texting you "let's kill them, I have a bat I'll meet you in 10 minutes," because no one talks to your best friend that way.
6. Had A Significant Other Get Mad Or Uncomfortable With How Much You Share
Once your boyfriend or girlfriend starts to feel like the third wheel when the three of you are together, you know you're doing something right. You're always each other's number one, everyone else is just fighting for second.
7. Sent Them A Collection Of Selfies And Have Them Pick The Best One
They are the only one you trust to point out anything wrong with the photos. A friend will tell you that you look good in all of them, a best friend will tell you that your hair is slightly messed up, your teeth look yellow, and you have a slight double chin.
8. Called Time Out On A Fight To Tell Them Something Funny
"hey, I know we're fighting but check out this meme I just found on twitter." When you guys fight you both know it's going to be okay so how quickly or slowly the fight progresses is not really an important issue.
9. Been Maybe Too Honest With Them
There are some little lies that you tell people to make them feel better or not hurt their feelings. With best friends you don't have to, I can just tell my best friend "no I don't want to hang out because I'm trying to lay in bed and watch Stranger Things again by myself," instead of being like "actually it's my grandma's birthday, sorry." You can just be more honest with them.
10. Had The Other Explain Your Emotions To You
I have called my best friend to ask her why I am feeling stressed out, or sad, or angry and she can almost always tell me. She'll be like "well you have that exam coming up, and you've been fighting with that guy, and your dog is sick" and I'll be like "oh, yeah, that is why I'm feeling these things."
11. Threatened Their Significant Other
Whenever my best friend gets a new boyfriend my first priority is to make sure they know that I am physically stronger than them (usually not true, but I try) because if they hurt my best friend they will be hearing from me.
