11 Signs Your Mom Will Always Be Your Best Friend

Moms are a special kind of human. We're stuck with them, yet it turns out to be the best kind of stuck. You always have someone to text, binge watch shows with and get advice from. The more I grow up the more I realize that my mom truly will always be my best friend.

"A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take" -Cardinal Mermollid

Here are some signs your mom is always going to be your person.

1. You text each other all day everyday

If I don't get a good morning text then something is up. And if I don't text her back within a couple hours, I can count on an "r u ok?" text or phone calls until she knows I'm alive. One time, I even Facebook messaged her co-worker/friend just because my mom hadn't texted me all day.

2. She doesn't get mad when you ask for help

I actually hate asking for help. It kind of makes me cringe inside, but let's be honest, my parents help me a lot. I might be the most annoying kid in the world sometimes with just graduating college and not really knowing what to do with my life yet, but mom is always there with advice and money because even after you graduate, the broke college student stigma doesn't end.

3. Everyone tells you you're exactly alike

I hate to admit it, but it's true.

4. She cries every time you leave

Because it sucks being 2,000 miles away from your best friend.

5. You tell each other what you have for dinner... every night

Because it's the important things in life that matter. #priorities #foodfamily

6. She endures your shopping trips even though she secretly kinda hates them

My mom is the type of person that goes in for what she wants and gets out. Meanwhile, I'm browsing the clearance, trying a couple things on, and debating between colors. Or those weekend grocery store trips when you want everything...

7. You tell each other everything

Besides what you had for dinner, moms know everything from what happened at work to the girl you dislike in class and don't even really know why. You both just like to know the details.

8. She knows when you're upset and why before you even say a word

Moms have a sixth sense... or it's just the same boy. Either way, moms just know.

9. She knows when you need a treat

Moms know that the solution is ice cream. Moms that love ice cream are the best kind of moms. Or when she comes home with a cute new purse or sends you coffee money in the mail with a sweet note to brighten your week.

10. She sacrifices without complaint

Time, money, sleep, the last bite of her cheesecake... Few of us really understand how much parents sacrifice for us.

11. She loves without condition

From dumb decisions to being a complete brat... a mom's love never changes.

Thanks mom.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
