9 Signs the Freshman 15 Has Gone Too Far

1. When eating is the most exciting activity of the day.

The best part of your day has suddenly become dinnertime, where you can get not only unlimited pizza and fries, but also that burger, hot dog, taco, three pieces of cake, and that questionable chili. Yum!

2. When you don't recognize yourself in the mirror.

Who is this person?! Maybe if I just avoid looking in mirrors this won't become a bigger issue.

3. You go home for breaks and your parents make comments about your weight.

“Wow, honey, you look… different." F-off, Mom.

4. You feel your only chance for change is divine intervention.

Dear Lord, if there was ever a time to decide to actually listen to me it would be now. Make me hot.

5. You are in denial and start making excuses about your eating habits.

If you eat two pieces of pizza stacked on-top of one another the body doesn't know, it will think you are only eating one. Thank you, Fran, for this life changing tip.

6. Sitting in the impossibly small desks in lecture halls becomes even more difficult.

Seriously, when you can't fit even one normal sized person in one of those creepy small chairs, how I am supposed to fit myself post eating my entire body weight in dining hall food?

7. When your friends from high school start mentioning your weight gain and you lash out.

“Wow, you look…different." F-off, Becky.

8. You have no concept of exercise.

I heard they have a gym on campus, I just have absolutely no idea where it would be located or what you would even do there.

9. You give up on trying to be hot and decide pizza sounds like more fun anyway.

I give up. Life is for living, not dieting.

On a serious note, we are all beautiful in our own ways. What is important is to love yourself for you. Enjoy the unlimited food while you can, and if you don't like something about yourself, change it. It is as simple as that.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
