11 Pains to Being the Sports Lover in Your Friend Group

Loving sports has always been something for men. Of course, there have always been girls who liked and played sports. Even then though it wasn’t the same as guys and sports; girls still did not know as much or play as well. However, it is becoming more and more popular for girls to be into sports and for people to actually want to watch girl’s athletics, but the numbers are still pretty small.

For all the girls out there who do love sports, they understand the pains of being the girl in their group who does.

1. You have to drag your friends to most sporting events. College football, sure -- but only if you tailgate first. They don;t mind coming, but they would rather be home watching Gossip Girl on Netflix.

2. You have to beg them to stay for the whole game. "It’s only halftime?" is the only phrase you hear, and they try everything they can to get you out of there as soon as possible.

3. They do not understand why Sunday is for football and talking is saved for commercials. Sure, they are okay sitting there watching football with you, but of course they don’t look up from their phones unless it is to tell you about this hilarious tweet right in the middle of an important play.

4. They don’t understand why you have a jersey for your favorite player on all your different teams. Unless it is the star quarterback, they do not understand why anyone would buy jerseys when you could be buying a new pair of shoes.

5. They make fun of you for wearing these said jerseys to things other than the game. They do not believe in wearing the same outfit you already have a picture in. Therefore, wearing your jersey somewhere besides a game is practically a sin.

6. You have to explain every play or call throughout the entire game. Every time they hear a whistle or people cheer they ask what is going on. You accept that knowing the basics is all you are going to get and that’s okay with you.

7. You eventually just tell them to cheer when everyone else does. When they continue to struggle, you just tell them to yell with the crowd and boo when you hear it.

8. They do not understand fantasy football, but they would so draft Tom Brady, Erik Decker, or that other hot guy they saw one time. They barely understand the real football, and you see the blank stare in their eyes when you go on about draft picks and what defense to play that week. They just tell you to play the cute one.

9. They do not want to get to games hours early. You want a good seat, or a seat at all, and standing in line or waiting for a couple of hours seems normal to you. They would much rather be sleeping later or be at the tailgate longer with their friends, even though you are always the ones who get the free t-shirts.

10. They do not understand why you wear the exact same jewelry and sit in the same position during a game. Unless you are a real sports fan, no one understands the superstition in it all. Your friends mostly just laugh when you freak out because you lost that bracelet you wore that time they won.

11. They do not understand your emotional breakdowns when your team loses. They break down and cry when a boy doesn’t like them or ends it; you break down and cry when your team looses the playoffs, or if you are honest, any game at all. And then they try to cheer you up.

Being the sports lover in a friend group can get old and annoying, but it is fun to help your friends learn and get in to things that you love even if they really hate it. If you are this girl, and your friends don’t mind dealing with your superstitions or going with you, they are pretty special.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
