Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout—the values, friendships, and added pounds from eating too many cookies, often last a lifetime. If you were a Daisy, Brownie, Junior, or beyond, you can probably relate to the following 11 lessons.
1. Creating a campfire isn't rocket science.
Because of Girl Scouts, you've become the go-to campfire constructor, but this can also apply to many other areas, such as changing a tire or fixing a fence. The many years spent as a Girl Scout taught you to embrace rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty.
2. You can't be afraid to put yourself out there.

3. If you don't ask, you'll never know.
Though it may require some serious courage, if you want something, you need to ask for it.
4. Keep your eye on the prize.
When reading through the Badge Book, you probably had a few badges that you were working towards. This focus grew your vest from a few patches to being completely covered.
5. Hard work pays off.
Badges weren't given, they were earned. And it often took a lot of time and effort to meet the requirements.
6. Don't take "no" for an answer.
When your mind was set on selling fifty boxes or earning your First Aid badge, it sometimes seemed like an uphill battle, but "no" was never an option.
7. All you need is a few close girl friends.
Thanks to Girl Scouts, your troop becomes a network of supporters and some of your best friends.
8. Adventure is out there.
From horseback riding to rock climbing, Girl Scouts encourages you to embrace any adventure.
9. You can never be over-dressed or over-educated.
This famous quote certainly applies to Girl Scouts. It's important to appear polished and professional, but your education, abilities, and creativity are equally as important.
10. There's power in girl power.
Girl Scouts teaches equality, and that you shouldn't feel any less capable than anyone else when it comes to achieving your goals and dreams.
11. Because Girl Scouts was a great experience for you, your child will be a Girl Scout too.
The above lessons, and many more, are only a few of the many reasons why I hope my future daughter would want to be a Girl Scout too.
