Summer has come and gone just as quickly as all the money you made at your summer job has somehow slipped out of your bank account. Now it's time to get back into gear as you get ready to go back to school, but this time you're finally ready (sort of).
1. You can't wait to see your "insert college town's name here" people.
You can't wait to see your friends that you haven't seen for the last 3 months. The anticipation is real, whether it be reuniting with your sisters or your old freshman roommate, you know that everything will be as if you saw each other yesterday.
2. You actually know what you're getting yourself into.
As a freshman, you were blindsided by every obstacle that came your way, you had no idea what to expect! Now it's your second year and you're back and better than ever and you're ready to kick ass, whether that be in classes, recruitment, intramurals, etc.
3. You can't wait to set up your new place.
You basically have everything picked out via Pinterest to have the perfect apartment! You can't wait to have a nice clean humble abode to come home to after a long day of class, but in reality we all know it's going to look like your freshman dorm. Don't have your expectations set too high, your room is going to get messy, it's inevitable.
4. You now have a kitchen...but you can't cook.
So freshman year you had the luxury of the dining halls, sometimes it was really good, and other times, not so much. But if that was the case, you could easily order a pizza, or cook some ramen, because all you had was a microwave. Now adulthood is calling your name, and it's not calling easy mac or instant oatmeal along the way, so now is your time to learn how to cook. So get ready to binge watch Food Network and Rachael Ray!
5. You soon realize that you actually have to go to class.
You're so excited about going back to school, that you actually forgot about the school part, aka the most important aspect. That means spending money on books, the stress of having 4 assignments due in an hour, and final exams. But don't worry, if you survived freshman year, you can do anything!
6. Sleep? What's that??
This year you're probably going to be busier than ever! With internships, jobs, and a heavier course load, there's going to barely anytime for sleep. So get ready for midday naps and running on caffeine!
7. All-nighters.
The dreaded thought of bags under my eyes, caffeine shakes, and bad hair days comes to mind when thinking about pulling all nighters. How else are you going to write a ten page paper in 4 hours when you've procrastinated on it all semester? But the beauty of all nighters is you rarely do them alone, there's always someone willing to stay up and eat late night pizza with you while attempting to study!
8. You're kind of going to miss your parents again.
You've been able to spend time with your parents all summer, whether it be family vacations or just watching Wheel of Fortune together, you're going to miss the little things. Now it's going to be hard being hundreds of miles away again, but this time you know how to deal with the homesickness. They're always a phone call away, and are more than willing to FaceTime!
9. And your hometown friends.
There's no space that can fill the spot where your childhood best friends go. They're the ones who have been there for you through it all, even your awkward middle school days, and they still love you! It's going to be hard leaving them once again, but it's comforting knowing that they're going through the same things that you are!
10. You can't wait to be "home" again.
You have officially established yourself at your college! You have your friends, your organizations, your favorite spots to eat, and your favorite study spots, now it's officially time to go back. This place has become your home away from home, so make this next year one of the best! You only get a little time of your life to enjoy college, so make the most of it!
