10 Things To Do At Super Bowl Parties If You’re Not A Super Fan

So the day finally came, Super Bowl Sunday. Football fanatics alike got together to watch the Falcons play the Patriots. So where were the non-football fanatics, you ask? Well we were there too, but, and this may come as a surprise, we just weren’t the ones screaming at the television.

Football is great, a classic American sport. However, some of us just aren’t as invested in the outcomes as others. Whether you’re at a Super Bowl party to impress someone, you got roped into joining because all your friends were watching, or if you just went for the chips & queso… the non-football fanatics of the world still made an appearance, so if that’s you, then here are 10 things to do at a super bowl party if you’re not a super fan.

1. Order a pizza or get the queso and chips out, it’s going to be a long night. Spring Break diets aside, if you’re going to do the Super Bowl you better do it right.

2. Learn the lingo. Even if you’re not the biggest football fan in the world you should know what a first down is, or a field goal. Don’t be that guy.

3. Talk to people about their teams of choice. You may not be that invested in the game, but you can sure as heck find out why other people are.

4. Get festive. Some people will have the face tats with team logos, full on jerseys, or whatever they feel they need to give their team a boost. I’d say you’re fine if you just know which teams are playing.

5. Drink Beer and pretend you understand WTF is happening during the game.

6. Enjoy the halftime show. It’s the one part we all look forward to, fans and non-fans alike.

7. THE COMMERCIALS. Some winners, some not so much, but they’re all sort of entertaining.

8. Let the fanatics enjoy themselves. There will be yelling, “COME ON REF”, there will be screaming. Let it happen. Embrace it.

9. Pay attention. Even if you don’t understand every play, you’ll be a lot more lost if you’re on Instagram the whole time. Even if you don’t know the teams, football is still entertaining to watch.

10. Congratulate yourself. You survived another Super Bowl, and you’re happy regardless, since you don’t care who wins anyways.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
