You know it and I know it. Culturally, California isn't just one state, and it never has been. The feud between Nor Cal and So Cal may never end, and that's just fine with me. Northern Californian regional identity is beautiful, so let's try to hang on to it for as long as we can as America becomes more and more culturally uniform. Don't ever let them lump us in with Los Angeles. Northern Cali, this is for you.

1. "Hella" is an integral part of you're vocabulary

We hella say hella hella much.

2. In your city it's common, and completely socially acceptable, for people to smoke marijuana in public

3. For that matter, you're parents were totally fine with you smoking when you were growing up, but if they caught you drinking...

4. You had to learn the hard way that the rest of the country isn't as progressive as the region you grew up in

and proud of it, fool.

5. Southern California is so alien it might as well be a region of Slovakia

What's a "Pacific Palisade"?

6. And nothing sucks more than when people stereotype your state based on So Cal Culture

No, I don't surf, I don't know Johnny Depp and I don't go tanning on the regular.

7. It's redwoods over palm trees all day

8. F*** the Dodgers

That's just a given.

9. You'll take Humboldt County over Malibu any day

That's what California looks like.

10. "Sunny Californ-I-A"? What's that?

This one's for my Bay Area folks

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
