Its Summertime!!
Beaches, amusement parks, and grand adventures with friends await. School year is coming to a close, and we have these big summer dreams that we cant wait to get to. But lets be real, only about half those plans will actually happen. If you are anything like me, it’ll be too hot to do much this summer so Netflix will become your best friend. Here is my list of top 10 shows to binge watch this summer:
1. Grey’s Anatomy
Grey’s is on its 12th season, meaning the show has some staying power. And lucky for you, the 12th season was just put up on Netflix. If you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know what Grey’s is about, let me catch you up real quick. Grey’s Anatomy follows Meredith Grey through her life, love and career. She grows from a surgical intern to a doctor, learning love and lost along the way. If you want a long series to watch, here’s the show for you. Grab that anatomy text book and get to learning something.
2. How to Get Away with Murder
HTGAWM is one of the newer ones on this list. It is another Shonda Rhimes creation, Like Grey’s Anatomy. It follows the life of 5 law students and their professor. They spend their lives outside of school, helping their professor and trying to hide the murder they committed. So far there is only 2 seasons, but the show has major staying power, so jump on the bandwagon now. So sit back and enjoy the show as you plan the perfect murder.
3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy is probably my favorite Television show to ever air. It follows a teenage girl, her friends and their adventure in killing vampires. Now that doesn’t seem that cool, but it’s a lot cooler than that. Buffy was one of the first shows to show a lead female, who didn’t need a dashing male to save the day. The show has 7, with a spin off series to boot, so gather the popcorn and a stake, sit back and enjoy.
4. Friends
“They were on a BREAK” “He’s her lobster” “How you doin?” Ever wonder where you friends were getting these ridiculous quotes from? Well it from probably the best show to ever be on television, FRIENDS. Friends follows 6 friends living in New York City, following their life and love. The show is a 30 minute sitcom, which means you can get through all 10 season pretty quickly. Grab some coffee and enjoy the time at Central Perk.
5. Fuller House
If you are anything like me, you grew up watching Full House. And were over the moon when you found out that they were making another full house. So far Fuller House only has one season on Netflix but season 2 is in the works. Like Full House, Fuller House is family comedy that follows grown up DJ and Stephanie, is very family friendly. So while you are baby sitting children, younger siblings, or nieces/nephews this a perfect show to get away from the hot summer sun for the whole family.
6. Vampire Diaries
Vampire Diaries rode in on the vampire craze that followed Twilight, but the show is nothing like Twilight. On Netflix there are 6 seasons of Vampire Diaries, with season 7 soon to be added. Vampire diaries follows Elena Gilbert a human and her relationship and friendship with Stephan and Damon Salvatore who are vampires that just moved back to Mystic Falls. The show has many twist and turns, along with plenty of deaths. And once you finish Vampire Diaries, you can get hooked on their spin-off series, The Originals. For a darker show that will have you instantly hooked, Vampire diaries is your show.
7. The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead is the show that kicked off the Zombie craze, it showed that Zombie Apocalypses’’ could be cool. In the Walking Dead Zombies have taken over the world and Rick Grimes and His family must survive in the new world. Rick and his gain encounter a verity of different people along their trek, making new friends and losing friends but they always stay true to themselves and know that their families safety is first. This show is perfect for the suspenseful liking person, just don’t watch the show right before bed or you might have some interesting zombie dreams.
8. Gilmore Girls
Oy with the poodles already. The Early 2000s was one of the best times on television, and one of the reasons was Gilmore Girls. Gilmore Girls will always bring a smile to your face with their witty commentary and suck you in wanting to know whom Rory chooses. Gilmore Girls is all about a mother and daughter, Lorelai and Rory. They face life, school, love and so much more with never losing their witty sense of self. If you are looking for a show that is funny and witty, curl up on the couch with the great show.
9. Chuck
I didn’t think much of this show when my friends recommended it to me, I didn’t give it much thought of actually liking it, but I loved it!! There is mysteries, love, suspense and so much more. Chuck follows Chuck a retail worker who gets super spy powers, meets some others spies along the way and falls in love. This is a perfect show to watch with your boyfriend or husband, enough “male” spy stuff to keep them entertained but gooey love stuff for you. So next time you and the boyfriend are arguing over what to watch on Netflix, turn on Chuck and you’ll both be happy.
10. One Tree Hill
One tree hill is one of those shows that I watched every week while I high school. What my friends would talk about the next day at lunch. One tree hill follows a group of high school students, Lucas, Nathan, Haley, Peyton and Brooke. We follow them through high school into college and adulthood. They learn how handle growing up and love, all kinds of other obstacles along the way. This is the perfect show to watch with your best friend, there is enough drama on the show for neither of you to worry about the drama going on in your life. The next girl night, instead of another boring movie, pop on One Tree Hill and you’ll both be happy.
So while everyone else is busy going here and there, you’ll be perfectly happy curled up on the couch watching one of these awesome TV shows. You could pick one, or go big and watch all 10! Cheers to happy watching!
