Honestly, food can be the way into anyone's heart. But sometimes, different foods and drinks can help us in ways we didn't even know about! People who are stressed can feel the need to overeat on junk food, which isn't always the best option. Here's a list of healthy food & drinks that can help our bodies alleviate stress and anxieties.

1. Turkey

Turkey contains an amino acid that your body converts to serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter (carries signals to the brain) that is responsible for regulating cyclic body processes and the well being and happiness of the human body.

2. Blueberries

These little blue fruits aren't only good for making our mouths happy. Blueberries contain antioxidants that produce dopamine, a chemical that is critical to coordination, memory function, and a person's overall mood.

3. Dark Chocolate

Who doesn't love chocolate? Now, you just have more of a reason to eat it! You don't get happy when eating chocolate for just any reason. Anandamide, a neurotransmitter, temporarily blocks feelings of pain and depression. This chemical produces this compound when chocolate is eaten. How cool is that?

4. Avocado

It's safe to say that this yummy super food has become pretty popular over the last few years. Avocado's have close to 20 essential health boosting nutrients, including potassium, vitamin B, vitamin E, and folate. They are also helpful in regulating blood sugar and this combination can keep your mood on a good pace, even in times of stress.

5. Asparagus

I actually really love to eat asparagus. There are high levels of folic acid in asparagus and depression has been linked to low levels of folic acid. So, if you eat enough, this little green veggie can make you happier!

6. Green Tea

Warm or hot, this drink has so many benefits. L-theanine, an amino acid found in tea plants, is responsible for the unique flavor of green tea, and it’s also the substance believed to promote relaxation.

7. Coconut Water

While coconut water is well known for boosting energy levels, it also helps with calming anxiety. It's said to regulate the electrolytes in our body, which helps us remain calm and stress free.

8. Kava Tea

Kava is used by Pacific Island cultures for its relaxing qualities. The root of the Piper methysticum plant is chewed, ground, or pulverized to make drinks or teas that can ease a person’s mind while maintaining clarity, offering temporary relief from anxiety, stress, and insomnia.

9. Tart Cherry Juice

Tart cherry juice has an abundance of health benefits. Some of those benefits include reducing inflammation that’s been linked to heart disease and arthritis, lowering cholesterol, supporting healthy joints and improving the duration and quality of sleep, which in turn, helps one to remain calm and manage stress better throughout the day.

10. Water

And finally, water! It's the answer to all of life's problem's honestly. Just stay hydrated and you'll become a healthier and happier person.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
