Everyone gets into ruts, its inevitable. Sometimes we just don't feel like ourselves and don't know how to get back up. Here are a few ways to help you get back to feeling like you again.

1. Meditation

Whether this is yoga or listening to music and transcending into deep thought. Whether this is laying in bed and being one with yourself. It honestly doesn't matter what form of meditation you do, it just has to be whats right for you.

2.) Inspirational movies

Who doesn't love a good movie? Especially movies that inspire you to be a better you. Motivational movies can leave you feeling happy and inspired. Hopeful that when theres a will theres a way and that success can be more than just a dream, it can be a reality.

3.) Being with people that actually, truly, genuinely care about you.

Hanging out with friends is great, but the wrong types of friends or people can end up making you feel worse about yourself and leaving you in a bigger rut then you already are. Finding people that genuinely care about you and your well being are the people you need to be around. positivity spreads, negativity destroys.

4.) Listening to upbeat music

When we get ourselves into a rut or a state of depression its only normal that we want to play our favorite rainy day music and get even more depressed as were listening to the lyrics of how terrible life is. Don't do it, don't play that sad song. Theres plenty of music out there that inspires instead of demotivates.

5.) Having some alone time to gather your thoughts

Humans are social animals, thats evident. However, we need time to refuel, reenergize and take a break from the outside world. We cant be on our A game all the time. Sometimes all we need is just a moment to gather our thoughts and be with ourselves.

6.) Getting organized

Clean you room, do your laundry, take a shower. Feel good about yourself and your environment. Cleanliness is extremely beneficial.

7.) Trying something new and different

You've been given the gift of life. Experiences are gained by doing not wishing or hoping. The more you explore, the more you will discover about yourself and whats right for you. After all your influences and experiences are what made you the person you are today.

8.) Exercise

Get in shape, try to eat healthy. Be the best version of yourself. Exercising is a great way to gain confidence and confidence is great way to gain happiness. A healthy body is a healthy mind.

9.) Identifying and eliminating unnecessary toxicities

Probably the most difficult thing a human can do. I know this is easier said then done, but lets face it, if you are able to succeed in identifying and eliminating these toxicities only positives can come of this. Not to mention you would be such a happier human being in general.

10.) Fake it till you make it

No one ever became happy by throwing themselves a pity party, so why do we do it? Faking a smile can and is difficult, but its so much better to fake it and try then to give in and continue in a constant state of sadness.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
