Everyone has their celebrity crushes and inspirations, male or female. These people have bigger voices than we could ever dream of, and so many people often like to imagine a world where they are best friends with their favorite celebrity. The celebrities we look up to usually change as we grow. For example, I looked up to Elmo when I was young. (Now I know that Elmo isn't actually a celebrity.) My list of celebrity crushes/inspirations has grown significantly over the years and I thought I'd share a few of my favorite inspirations and a few of my favorite heartthrobs with you all.
10. Betty White
It's impossible not to love this woman. She spreads humor, love, and joy everywhere she goes. I admire her work in the many films and shows she's been in. One of my favorites is the movie The Proposal in which she co-starred with Sandra Bullock. Betty White has done a lot of charity work in over 14 organizations including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PAWS, the American Humane Association, and the Morris Animal Foundation. Her love of animals and helping others is truly inspiring. I can't imagine the world without her.
9. Will Smith
Will Smith is just one of those actors that I love watching, because he can portray so many unique parts so well. I've watched him play a goofy secret agent in Men In Black and I've watched him play a serious forensic pathologist in the movie Concussion. He masters each role and takes on the characteristics of his characters as if he has lived their life for the entirety of his.
8. Ansel Elgort
I had no clue who Ansel Elgort was until I watched The Fault In Our Stars. I became extremely attached to him after that movie. He portrayed the characteristics of Augustus Waters perfectly and he really brought the story to life. That movie hits home for me, and he should be very proud of how well he did in his acting. I would like to shake his hand one day.
7. Robert Downey Jr.
I'll be honest, I'm not a huge Marvel fan. But I enjoyed the Avengers movies a lot, and I'm looking forward to seeing Civil War. Iron Man is by far my favorite Avenger and Hollywood certainly got it right when they cast Robert Downey Jr. Each and every one of his lines are hilarious, and his improvisation on scene is incredible. He is a hero to many Marvel fans, young and old.
6. Shemar Moore
Shemar Moore is by far one of my biggest celebrity crushes. He stars in my favorite TV show, Criminal Minds. His acting is spectacular and his smile is enough to make anyone melt. I would give anything to have him call me "baby girl" like he does to Garcia. He has appeared on TV fundraisers for Stand Up To Cancer many times and he sells a line of "Babygirl" clothes to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. And yes. I do have a poster of him hanging in my suite at school.
5. Jennifer Lawrence
Besides being stunningly pretty, J Law is an excellent actress. She is probably most well known for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games trilogy. I believe that Jennifer Lawrence is a huge role model to many girls out there because she portrayed such a strong and courageous character. She has taught girls that they can be tough like guys. She has also helped improve many girls' self-esteem and body image. J Law is seen as "fat" according to Hollywood media. Many girls think they have to be frighteningly skinny to be beautiful, but Jennifer Lawrence has done a lot to make sure that young girls know this isn't true. She knows that everyone is beautiful, no matter your body type, and that's a very important message.
4. Ellen DeGeneres
Ellen is huge inspiration to me. She is an advocate for kindness and she is one of the most caring, giving people this world has. She is constantly thinking of others. She reminds everyone to be kind to one another. She takes a stand against bullying. She promotes LGBTQ rights. She's not afraid to be who she is, and that's truly something to admire. She has done a ton of charity work and donated to over 45 organizations. She also has an amazing sense of humor. She's just lovable in every way possible.
3. Bradley James
A lot of people don't know who Bradley James is. He played Prince/King Arthur on the TV show Merlin. (This show is onNetflix and I highly recommend it to everyone!) Bradley James is a very attractive human being and also a beloved British actor. He has worked to raise money for "Women's Aid", a domestic violence charity.
2. Emma Watson
I first grew to love Emma Watson by watching her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series. Then I loved her in Ballet Shoes. And in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Emma is a huge advocate for feminism. (By the way, feminism means equal rights for men and women--not that women are superior!) She is stunningly gorgeous and always has a positive attitude. If she and I had gone to school together, I would have absolutely made sure I was friends with her. She's the kind of person you want to surround yourself with. She's loyal and fun and caring and honest.
1. Orlando Bloom
Last, but CERTAINLY not least, is my beloved Orlando. He is the biggest celebrity crush I've ever had. Meeting Orlando Bloom is on my bucket list because I love him so much. He's a great actor and very very handsome. Did I mention he's handsome? Orlando has also done a lot of charity work with over 18 organizations such as The Red Cross, UNICEF, Free the Children, and the Malala Fund, which promotes education for girls across the globe.
Though I know that chance of meeting anyone on the list above is less than one in a million, I will always look up to these people for the work they've done and the help they've given to the less fortunate. These actors and actresses use their fame for good. They raise their voices and speak for those who can't. I may not know any of these people personally, but I know that they will continue to make a difference in the world, and a difference in my world. (Even if only in my dreams.)
