You might think it is easy to be a Canadian living in America but it can get a bit rough sometimes. Here are 10 things you have to learn to be a Canadian living in America.
- 1) If you don’t have an accent, fake it. You will not be left alone until you give them a convincing Canadian “sorry.”
- 2) You have to accept and love all things Canadian, because there is no such thing as a Canadian who doesn’t love watching hockey in their plaid shirt and toque, while caressing their pet moose and drinking maple syrup.
- 3) Take the blame for Justin Beiber, more often then not they are secret fans of his.
- 4) There is no good way to explain where you live in Canada because Americans usually only know about Toronto or Vancouver, if you are from Saskatchewan, you're out of luck.
- 5) Never say you are cold, the only response you will ever get is, “aren’t you used to this? You’re from Canada!?”
- 6) An easy out for awkward American situations that you don’t understand, “I’m Canadian” works every time.
- 7) Don't even try to justify the CFL (Canadian Football League), it's not worth it.
- 8) Make Canadian friends, find them and stick together, they will be the only way you stay sane.
- 9) Never under any circumstances say that Canada is better than America, it doesn’t matter what context you are saying it. If you do, all you will get is, “USA! USA! USA!”
- 10) Learn to love your Americans because they are all coming to visit you if Trump wins the election.
