Sooners Fall To TCU

The number four Oklahoma Sooners fell on the wrong side of the margin, for this first time this season, losing 37-33 at TCU. The game opened with TCU's near five-minute drive which ended with their quarterback, Trevone Boykin, fumbling into the end zone on a run from the one yard line. However, their tight end, Cliff Murphy, recovered for TCU’s first touchdown. The Frog’s offense continued down the field for 65 yards, with the help of two 15-yard penalties from cornerback, Zach Sanchez. The Sooners defense ultimately led the Frogs to a 7-yard run for a touchdown, making the score 0-14.

The Sooners, eventually, got the ball back and moved down the field to bring the score to 7-14 with a one yard run from running back, Samaje Perine. With seconds left in the first quarter, quarterback, Trevor Knight, completed a pass to wide receiver, Sterling Shepard, typing the game, 14-14, before the second quarter. The Sooners and TCU both scored one more time before leaving the filed for half time.

The second half of the game was not much better for the Sooners. There were many miss communications between players that led to incomplete passes and plays. TCU’s defense rushed Knight a number of times and he was not able to complete passes. Knight threw for 309 yards and had 79 rushing yards, the most he has recorded this season. The defense played hard, but TCU’s quarterback is a dual threat with the way he throws and runs the ball. Sanchez returned a blocked extra point for two points, for the first time in his career as a Sooner. Linebacker, Jordan Evans, had his first interception of his career, and forced his second fumble of the season. He led the Sooners with 10 tackles, reaching double digits for his second straight game.

This defeat set the Sooners back on their quest for the Big 12 title. However, there is still a chance for us, because in the last four seasons, the conference champion has had at least one loss in conference play. The Sooners have put this loss behind them, and are looking ahead to the weeks to come.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
