There are many things I will never apologize for. I won't apologize for my confidence or my abilities. I'll never apologize for having high standards for who I let in my life and how people treat me. That being said, I won't apologize for being a Trump supporter. Oh, I mean "deplorable."
The derogatory language and immature behavior of those who despise our President — yes, he is our President — has hit new lows. Advocating for survivors of sexual assault and dating violence became a passion of mine junior year of high school. However, in my peers' eyes, nobody can advocate for such people and vote for Donald Trump. Sadly, petty comments like that are the most minor forms of harassment us "Deplorable" people get. I've decided it is time to expose the hypocrisy. So I asked Republicans to share about the times they were singled out for their views.
"This past election, I was dating a girl and an extremely close family friend of hers actually told her that she should break up with me because I'm conservative and supported Trump."
"I was in a car and I said I was a Republican. She said, 'Oh, so you are racist?'"
My papaw talked to me about all the people who claim we are anti-women and that we are racists. When actually Abraham Lincoln was a member of the Republican party; and more Republicans voted in favor of the 19th amendment than Democrats. Also, he points out the fact Democrats are the real "old, rich, and white" party. In my home state of Kentucky Rep. John A. Yarmuth (D) has a net worth of $18,664,028 versus Rep, Thomas Massie (R) with his net worth of $2,841,001. Also, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D) of California has the net worth of $101,273,023. Her net worth is 96 times more than the average member of Congress and 121 times more than the average representative.
Personally, I was told I am a "terrible woman" because I voted for Donald Trump. Being called a "terrible woman," a racist, ignorant, and uneducated shows the inability for some to stand hearing other opinions. That is something that is simply immature. A beauty of being an American is freedom of speech. I encourage my friends who don't share the same beliefs as me to ask me questions. That is how I grew so strong in my beliefs. I was the only openly Republican student in my entire graduating class. Being ridiculed and sometimes degraded for my beliefs made me learn more about why I am a Republican. It also allowed me to become a better debater. Knowing why you don't support certain beliefs is important. Which is why the hypocrisy and immaturity among the left needs to come to an end already.
