I am a mantra type of person. Almost like saying a prayer it's soothing to have something to latch on to. Whenever I'm walking to my car at night or paranoid there's a murderer in my house I repeat Psalm 23:4. When I become overwhelmed or anxious I constantly tell myself to breathe in, and breathe out. So, I'm always looking for new mantras to add to my repertoire. Recently the internet has become obsessed with pineapples. Why? I have no idea, but they are some wonderful fruit. Along with the obsession came a new mantra I latched on to.

Stand Tall.

Wear a Crown.

Be Sweet.

I've dubbed it the pineapple philosophy. Because we totally live in a generation where I've resulted to taking advice from a piece of yellow fruit. But, all joking aside I've decided that the pineapple philosophy is a daily mantra to take up.

Stand Tall

There are days when you feel small, very small. Like the weight of the world is crushing you. When people in your life hurt you, belittle you, push you to the side, or don't take time for you. That is when you have to tell yourself to stand tall like the pineapple. Know you stand among a bunch of other vibrant, delicious fruits but you stand the tallest and that you are special and unique in your own way. Be confident in who you are, stand tall.

Wear a Crown

You are a queen, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise and KNOW YOUR WORTH. I'll say it again because it's important. Know your worth. Because if you are continually putting yourself down, thinking little of yourself, and believing you don't deserve good things then what are others suppose to think of you? You wear your crown, you let the world know you deserve to be treated like the queen pineapple you are. Wear that crown girl.

Be Sweet

Lastly, if you are going to stand tall and wear a crown like you deserve then be a kind person on the inside. Act, speak, and live worthy of that crown. Be someone who stands tall because they stand out. Be sweet, be a good and kind person. Love people and show them we all have our own inner pineapple. Be sweet.

Take the pineapple philosophy and run with it, maybe you'll see just how good being a pineapple can be. The internet may have had it right for once with their pineapple obsession. Stand tall. Wear a crown. Be sweet.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
